The HBO horror series It: Welcome to Derry will be based on Stephen King's novel It. The program, set in the 1960s, explains the genesis tale of Pennywise the Clown and serves as a preamble to the 2017 and 2019 films. Bill Skarsgård returns as the legendary character.

Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs co-created the series. It will include nine episodes and is set to premiere in October 2025. It was shot in Canada and will conclude in August 2024. The narrative will be recounted in reverse chronological order across three seasons.

The horror series gained depth and mood from these many locales.

It: Welcome to Derry is an eagerly anticipated supernatural horror television series. It is mainly based on Stephen King's 1986 novel It. Set in the 1960s, it digs into the early events in Derry, Maine. This is done before the Losers' Club confronts Pennywise, and the main cast features Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, Stephen Rider, and Bill Skarsgård, who reprises his role as Pennywise. The series is set to broadcast on HBO in 2025.

The production team chose to film primarily in Ontario, Canada. This was done in order to bring the fictional town of Derry to life. Port Hope, Hamilton, Toronto, and Mississauga were among the places selected to provide the eerie, small-town atmosphere needed for the story. Derry is once again centered around Port Hope, which had a major appearance in previous It movies. It is a great example of a New England community from the 1960s because of its historic appeal and well-preserved buildings.

One of the most famous filming sites in Hamilton is Delta Secondary School, and this school, which was constructed in 1925, has an authentic, vintage look that complements the backdrop of the program.

Throughout the series, it was used in several scenes, and Hamilton served as a major filming location as well, with several locations that replicated different Derry areas.

Several Ontario towns and cities like Brampton, Georgetown, Guelph, Niagara Falls, Uxbridge, Pickering, and North York served as backdrops for the television series. Whether they were industrial landscapes, suburban streets, or rural views, each location contributed a distinct visual aspect to the performance.

May 2023 marked the beginning of It: Welcome to Derry production, which lasted until the summer of 2024, and despite delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike, filming was completed in August 2024. Andy Muschietti will helm the first four episodes of the nine-part series. HBO has announced that the series will premiere in 2025, although no particular date has been selected.

It: Welcome to Derry captures Stephen King's rich history and spooky atmosphere through carefully chosen locations around Ontario. The spooky plot and evocative settings aim to give viewers a scary insight into Derry's nefarious history while also expanding the It universe.
