Peacemaker Season 2 is making an explosive return, but there is more to life than the chaos and humor that John Cena created on the screens. The much-awaited season 2 has not only delivered more of James Gunn's storytelling and over-the-top action set pieces, but has also stepped up the scale of the production by shooting in new locations effectively disguised as unlikely DC Universe settings.
An easily noticeable change in scenery will strike viewers at first glance, as the rain-soaked forests of Vancouver seem to vanish and are replaced by an entirely different dry landscape. The action of Peacemaker Season 2 takes place in the southern U.S. state of Georgia. From massive studio sets to historical landmarks in cities, Season 2 filming locations are destined to turn into tourist attractions in their own right.
Where was Peacemaker Season 2 shot?

As per Fandom Wire, the majority of the filming of Peacemaker Season 2 took place in Georgia, where a big part of the production was staged at the Trilith Studios in Atlanta. Trilith Studios (previously known as Pinewood Atlanta Studios) is a prominent 700-acre studio complex that hosted numerous record-breaking TV shows and movies, including a variety of Marvel and DC cinematic universe titles.
In Peacemaker Season 2, the large complex was used to build more complicated sets, such as the renovated trailer park home of Peacemaker and futuristic lair facilities. The complex also had state-of-the-art green screen technology that allowed the show to create the wild set pieces that it is known for.
However, the action didn't stay inside the studio. The Peacemaker crew filmed many outdoor shots in and around metro Atlanta and beyond.
Paulding County, Georgia: Paulding’s countryside turned into an adrenaline playground. John Cena, decked out head to toe in his movie getup, tore through fields and backroads, doing wild stunts while the locals peeked from their porches.
Dallas, Georgia: The series nailed the whole small-town vibe with the good, the bad, and the everyone-knows-your-business hustle. They shot a bunch of scenes right here, with people doing their thing. As per the set photos, John Cena was wandering around in disguise, like some undercover superhero, just chilling with the locals.
Savannah, Georgia: Savannah has a historic beauty, and several key urban set-pieces were directed here. Oaks that are lined with moss, cobblestone roads, and some of the key attractions like Forsyth Park and Leopold Ice Cream shop were featured. John Cena was seen resting in Leopold, and a part of a Big Belly Burger was prepped along River Street to shoot.
Filming timeline:
Peacemaker Season 2 went into production in April 2024, and principal photography lasted until November 2024. James Gunn, the showrunner and director of Peacemaker, was also working on the new Superman movie at the same time, so he shot some of the show on weekends.
Principal photography was completed just before Thanksgiving, and months of on-location and studio work were capped off.
Why Georgia?
The varied topography of Georgia, the state (including the futuristic skyline of Atlanta and the quaint historicism of Savannah) mimicked the juxtaposition of grittier superhero action with emotionally-wrought, even absurd, dialogue. The film industry is another factor that made the state a new superhero capital. On top of robust tax incentives, the state has come to feature Hollywood’s biggest productions, given the presence of cinematic urban as well as picturesque small towns.
Any fan enthusiastic about visiting the places portrayed in the Peacemaker Season 2 would be delighted to know that Trilith Studios offers occasional public tours, and there are well-known spots such as Forsyth Park and Leopold Sugar Confectionery that constitute possible travel stops for DC fans.
Peacemaker: The show and its legacy

To readers less well versed with the series, Peacemaker is a boundary-pushing superhero show created by James Gunn in collaboration with Max (formerly HBO Max), with John Cena as the gun-wielding, peace-hungry hero Christopher Smith. A spin-off of the 2021 film, The Suicide Squad, the first season of Peacemaker lived up to the hype by setting the tone of combining raunchy comedy, violent action, and some surprising depth as it delved into the inner conflict and redemption journey of its hapless hero.
Peacemaker Season 2, which follows the chaos of Season 1 of the alien conspiracy, places Peacemaker in the fallout after his mental and emotional journey. Following the events of the Superman film, Peacemaker Season 2 is set in the rebuilt DC Universe. Along with cameos from DC heroes like Hawkgirl and Green Lantern, it introduces significant new villains under the leadership of Rick Flag Sr.
Expect John Cena to improvise most of his lines, and all of James Gunn's trademarks of quirky comedy, surreal dancing scenes, meta-humor, and drama.
This change of setting is not only visual but also an indication of how the show will evolve, given its increased scale, connectivity to DCU, and the aspect of a new approach to the superhero show genre, all the while maintaining the irreverent core the show is known to hold.
