Secrets We Keep is a six-episode Danish miniseries that debuted on Netflix on May 15, 2025. The story follows Cecilie and Mike as they uncover hidden tensions in their upscale Copenhagen neighborhood after a young au pair goes missing.
To bring this setting to life, the filmmakers chose to shoot in real locations across the city and its northern suburbs rather than on studio sets.

The main filming of Secrets We Keep took place in suburban areas North of Copenhagen
Producers of Secrets We Keep spent much of early 2024 capturing scenes in the affluent districts north of Copenhagen’s city center. These streets feature tidily kept gardens, open homes, and minimalist architecture. By filming in real residential neighborhoods, the series highlights how ordinary places can conceal darker stories beneath their calm surfaces.

Gotfred Tvedes' mansion served as one of the principal homes
A building known as the Gotfred Tvedes mansion doubled as Cecilie’s family residence. This early 20th-century house forms part of the Ordrupgaard Museum complex in Charlottenlund.
Its classic exterior and original period details provided a believable backdrop for both indoor and outdoor scenes, helping viewers see the contrast between the characters’ refined surroundings and the unsettling events that unfold.
Hvidøre House was used for another key domestic setting
Nearby in Klampenborg, the historic Hvidøre House stood in for the Hoffmann family home. Built in the late 19th century and once owned by Russian royalty.
This white-washed mansion offered formal rooms and manicured grounds ideal for filming. Its real-world grandeur adds an unforced sense of history without feeling overly opulent, fitting the show’s neutral approach to depicting wealth.

Some outdoor scenes were shot at local parks and the Temple Sea Bath
To show Secrets We Keep's characters moving outside their homes, crews filmed at Ørsted Park and the Temple Sea Bath on Bellevue Beach. Ørsted Park’s ponds, lawns, and tree-lined paths appear in moments of quiet reflection.
While the Temple Sea Bath’s open decks and ocean views set a calm scene that contrasts with the story’s tension. Using public spaces like these highlights the link between private lives and shared community areas.
A Copenhagen street provided additional interior locations
For smaller interior shots, such as studies, guest rooms, and professional spaces, the production team used a mansion on Amaliegade Street in central Copenhagen. This quiet avenue of townhouses and diplomatic buildings allowed the crew to dress rooms to match diverse households, keeping the series grounded in real city settings without repeating the same homes.
By choosing genuine Copenhagen sites from museum grounds and historic mansions to public parks and city streets, Secrets We Keep roots its mystery in places that feel familiar yet full of hidden corners. This straightforward approach to location filming supports the show’s theme that no matter how well-kept a neighborhood may appear, every closed door can hold its secret.
