When CBS premieres Survivor 49 on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, viewers will meet a player whose résumé looks very different from the usual castaways. Before relocating from a production office to the beaches of Fiji, one of the season's competitors, Nate Moore, spent over a decade developing the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
From 2010 until 2024, he advanced to the role of Executive Vice President of Production and Development at Marvel Studios, where he was in charge of some of the most popular films in the series, including Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain America: Civil War.
Shortly after leaving Marvel to focus on independent projects, he changed careers; however, he is presently producing the upcoming Black Panther 3. Here are some facts regarding Moore's career that show why he is one of the most unusual Survivor contestants ever.
Everything we know about Nate Moore from Survivor 49
When Nate Moore started working for Marvel Studios in 2010, there were only three movies in the MCU: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2. A May 2025 Variety feature claims that he soon gained a significant role in the studio's expansion as a result of his early work.
He eventually rose to the post of Executive Vice President of Production and Development, which gave him the authority to manage the logistical and artistic course of significant projects. His production credits span some of the MCU’s most notable titles.
Moore is recognized as a producer on IMDb for the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and Captain America: Brave New World.
Black Panther and its follow-up, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, were also produced by him. He contributed to the creation of Guardians of the Galaxy and worked on Eternals in addition to those major series.
Moore's impact extended beyond the background. According to Variety, he developed stories actively, especially for the Captain America and Black Panther franchises. His contributions influenced the MCU's wider cultural impact in addition to its film schedule.
After 14 years, Moore announced his resignation from Marvel Studios in December 2024. Speaking to Variety, the studio’s top executives, Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito, released a joint statement about his exit:
“Nate is a fantastic executive and colleague as well as a wonderful friend to all of us here at Marvel Studios."
Moore had been a key player on the squad since 2010, he said, and his influence would continue to shape their narrative. Even though the MCU crew would miss him, he was excited about Moore's upcoming endeavors and the chance to work with him once more on the upcoming Black Panther film.
Moore intends to concentrate on independent filmmaking, a dramatic departure from billion-dollar blockbusters to possibly smaller, more intimate endeavors, even as he leaves Marvel's daily operations. His decision to join Survivor 49 adds another twist to his career path.
The Survivor season will feature 90-minute episodes, with the premiere running two hours and the finale expected to be around three hours, according to a July 2025 Parade report. Moore’s casting was first widely discussed in the Surviving Tribal report from July 2025, which confirmed both the premiere date and his Marvel background.
Survivor 49 will premiere on Wednesday, September 24, at 8 pm EST on CBS.
