Netflix's latest psychological thriller, The Beast in Me, starring Claire Danes, Matthew Rhys, and Brittany Snow, is a slow-burning drama that lingers in your thoughts even after the credits roll.

It delves into the life of Aggie Wiggs, a writer who struggles to get back to work after her son's death. But when her new neighbour, Nile Jarvis, a real estate agent, gets accused of killing his first wife, she decides to write her next book about him. When she digs in deeper, she understands the dangerous mess that she has gotten into.

Brittany Snow's character Nina Jarvis might seem to many as just Nile Jarvis's second wife, but she's much more than that. Professionally, she's an art dealer/gallerist based in Manhattan. However, if you truly delve into her personality, you'll gain a glimpse of who she truly is. She isn't the naive wife; she is as sharp and calculating as Nile Jarvis.

Who is Nina Jarvis in The Beast in Me?

Nina Jarvis is Nile Jarvis's second wife in The Beast in Me. She might seem to be a submissive wife at first, but there's more to her than what meets the eye. Turns out, before their marriage, she was fierce, but later, she grew conscious of whether he would still like her or not, so she adopted a submissive nature. But beneath it, she was still that woman who was smart and aware. In a candid chat with Tudum, Snow reveals the equation between Nina and Nile. She said,

"We left it a little open-ended (about) what type of relationship they had and if he really loved her or not."

Snow calls her character Nina a chameleon, and here's why. Speaking to Tudum, she reveals that Nina fought hard to fit into the world that she's in today. She did not come from privilege, so it was important for her to make a mark. First, she wanted to make sure that Aggie liked her. She revealed that Nina often used her charming personality to make the listener believe in what she wants them to believe. Speaking about Nina and Nile's chaotic dynamic, Snow further reveals,

"She's a chameleon. She knows how to work any situation, she knows how to get what she really wants, and she does it in an nintelligent way that I think he (Nile) undermines. I think he doesn't see her as someone who's smart as him. That's why he doesn't really respect her, and the relationship is crumbling."

Nina is much sharper than Nile Jarvis. She knows what he likes and dislikes and uses it to her advantage. This fierce attitude comes from the fact that she does not come from privilege. Sure, she's talented, but she needs to keep a grip before she's knocked out. Snow also reveals that Nina's life isn't a perfect one; she's tired of pretending to be fine when she knows that she might never be on the same page as the people who come from a privileged background, but she has no options left.

What is more interesting is that Nina is the one who aids the police in gathering a recording (evidence) against Nile. This makes Nina's character even more complex. Did Nina know the truth from the beginning? Was she just pretending? Did she love Nile, or was he just a pawn for her to climb the ladder of success, wealth, and money?

For now, that remains a topic to discuss over a cup of hot chocolate.
