Roman’s disappearance has remained a major mystery in High Potential ever since the show’s inception. The ex-husband of Morgan has yet to make an appearance in the show, but the second season has dropped constant hints of his presence.

In the Season 2 winter finale, Ava, played by Amirah J, was determined to locate her father. While the show has yet to cast an actor for the role of Roman, Amirah has revealed who she wants to play her on-screen father in High Potential.

In an interview with US Weekly, the actress said that she thinks Jesse Williams and Michael Ealy would be great choices to play Roman in the series. She said:

“On set we would all talk about [who we think could play Roman]. I think Jesse Williams would be cool. We said Michael Ealy. Whoever they cast is going to be great. I’m just excited to see who it is.”

Amirah J wants Jesse Williams or Michael Ealy to play Roman in High Potential

Both Jesse Williams and Michael Ealy are accomplished actors, and their appearance in High Potential would certainly add a new charm to the show. Williams was recently seen in the Prime Video series Hotel Costiera.

He has also impressed the audience with his performances in the shows Grey's Anatomy, Station 19, and Only Murders in the Building, and in the films The Cabin in the Woods and Your Place or Mine.

On the other hand, Ealy has starred in shows like Power Book II: Ghost, Stumptown, Barbarians Rising, Secrets and Lies, and Sleeper Cell. He has also given stellar performances in the movies Really Love, The Perfect Guy, Underworld: Awakening, and 2 Fast 2 Furious.

While Amirah J wants either of the two actors to play Roman in High Potential, the creators have not officially announced anyone’s casting, and the character has yet to appear on the screen. That might change soon, as during the same interview, Amirah J said that the show will give some much-needed answers about Roman when the second season returns after the winter break. She said:

“What I have been told from the showrunner, the writers, and from what I’m understanding is that they don’t want to drag it out too far to the point where it’s like, ‘OK, we’re sick of this.’ We’re dragging this out for too long now. But we want to keep that mystery going and feed fans a little bit and then back up a little bit. By the end of this season, a lot of questions will have firm and actual answers to them.”

The remaining episodes of High Potential Season 2 will not just delve into Roman’s story, but will also reveal details about the pasts of other characters. Amirah said:

“I love the last half of season 2 because I think we start to see all of the characters developing in such a nice way. We get to see the backstory not just for Ava but the detectives in the precinct: Soto and Oz and everyone else. We get to dive into their story, which I think is nice that we’re getting to know everybody.”

High Potential Season 2 is set to feature 18 episodes. The mid-season finale was aired on October 28, 2025, and the show will now return with new episodes on ABC on January 6, 2026.
