CBC Television's hit sitcom, Schitt's Creek, wrapped up in April 2020 after six seasons.
Half a decade later, some of its characters continue to resonate with the fans, and it isn't just the Rose family. In Season 3, a new face entered the mix, and it was none other than Patrick Brewer, David Rose's husband and his business partner. Patrick Brewer was brought to life by the popular Canadian actor and musician Noah Reid.
In an interview with CBC, Reid revealed how his character left an impact on the audience. He said,
"When Patrick came out to his parents [season five, episode 11]. What that meant to our audience was quite overwhelming. That's when I realized we were part of a movement, in a way. Then we marched in the Toronto Pride Parade. It's one thing to read comments on Twitter, but to be in the midst of that kind of energy, it was wild. When people saw Dan, they were seeing their hero. Television doesn't have a terrific track record of telling queer stories. Schitt's Creek was a real lead-by-example show."
Patrick became one of the most beloved characters in Schitt's Creek, and his romance with David was one of the highlights of the show. But did you know that beyond Schitt's Creek, Noah Reid has a remarkable career as an actor, theatre artist, and musician?

Beyond Schitt's Creek, Patrick: Noah Reid's career and notable projects
Patrick first appears as a business-minded local who helps David open Rose Apothecary.
What starts as a simple partnership turns into romance, giving viewers one of TV's most tender relationships. Patrick is calm, kind, and balances David's chaotic energy throughout the series. His serenade with David, accompanied by Tina Turner's "Simply the Best," became a pop culture moment.
This also turned Reid into an unexpected heartthrob. He got several accolades for his role as Patrick, including the Canadian Screen Award and a SAG Award with the ensemble cast.
Noah Reid's journey to television began years ago. Born in Toronto on May 29, 1987, he started his career as a child actor. You might recognize him as the voice behind Franklin the Turtle. Some of his notable works during his early career days include Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, Terry, Naturally Sadie, Score: A Hockey Musical, Rookie Blue, Kevin From Work, and Cracked.
Additionally, Reid's also a popular music artist. He released his first album, Songs from a Broken Chair, in 2016, followed by Gemini in 2020. He also earned a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Original Song for his work in People Hold on. Reid didn't just stop here - in 2023, he announced a 26-city world tour across six countries-proving his popularity as a musician went beyond borders.
Reid's performance as Patrick in Schitt's Creek won hearts and opened up his avenue. In 2017, he was cast in Shelia McCarthy's starring feature film Cardinals. Some of his recent works include Murder in a Small Town, Outer Range, The Archivists, and so on.
Reid is married to his Rookie Blue co-star Clare Stone, and they have a son.
