Times are great for Harry Potter fans as the production of the upcoming series has officially kicked off. Previously, the cast for the key roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione had been announced. Now, HBO has announced new cast members, which reveals that Rory Wilmot will play the role of Neville Longbottom, the young Gryffindor wizard.
Besides Wilmot, Amos Kitson’s name has also been announced, who will play the role of Dudley Dursley, Harry’s cousin. The new cast members also include Louise Brealey and Anton Lesser, who will play the roles of Quidditch referee Madam Rolanda Hooch and wandmaker Garrick Ollivander, respectively.
One of the best parts about the Harry Potter series is that it is being filmed in the exact locations where the films of the franchise were shot, which means fans will be able to revisit the same places with the new cast members.
Rory Wilmot will play the character of Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter Series
As mentioned previously, Rory Wilmot has been announced to be playing Neville Longbottom in the upcoming Harry Potter series. Rory is a British actor who answered a casting call for the series back in 2024 and was ultimately finalized for the role in July 2025.
Previous to being selected for the role, Rory played the role of Edvard Lassen in FBI: International. Rory is also part of another series, titled Out of the Dust, where he plays the character of Anthony.

The series has an ensemble cast with veteran actors like John Lithgow and Nick Frost on board. Some of the cast members include

Besides them, the central trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione will be played by Dominick McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton, respectively. Francesca Gardiner serves as the executive producer and showrunner, along with Mark Mylod, who is also serving as an executive producer and has directed some episodes of the series.
The Harry Potter series will be available to stream on HBO and HBO Max in 2027.
