A certain eye monster is giving all Alien: Earth fans the creeps, but its recent abilities and powers suggest that it might just be a bigger threat than the good old-fashioned Xenomorphs.

Noah Hawley's latest entry into the Alien franchise is being hailed as the best installment so far, and for all the right reasons. Officially known as Trypanohyncha ocellus or T. ocellus, this evolved alien species is a part of the five life forms on Maginot, which made its way to Prodigy's lab after their fateful crash landing on Earth.

While various sequences in the series have hinted that Xenomorphs only feed on flesh and blood, and have weirdly befriended Wendy (the first-ever hybrid), the newest addition is more dangerous than you might think. Their mind-controlling and predatory abilities hint that they feed on intelligence, which makes the synthetics, hybrids, and the Lost Boy crew their biggest targets.

With mystery around its origins and powers, the eye monster can likely become more powerful upon entering a strong and indestructible hybrid or synth, creating more problems for Prodigy and other Alien: Earth characters.

More on the eye monster in our story.

The newly featured Eye Monster, aka Species 64, can give Xenomorphs a run for their money any day, as their introduction in Alien: Earth is giving everyone the creeps.

In Episode 1, we got a mere glimpse of this dangerous monster, which looks like a hybrid between jellyfish and octopus. Complete with eight tentacles and a large eye protruding from its head, the Alien: Earth eye monster has already established itself as an even bigger threat to Xenomorphs.

According to the data retrieved by Kirsh and his group of android assistants, The Lost Boys, Species 64 is a predatory monster that feeds on an external body by replacing the host's eye socket and hijacking its nervous system from there on. We also saw a preview of its dangerous and creepy abilities when Kirsh and his crew arrived on the USCSS Maginot for their rescue mission. It was scary how the eye monster abandoned its containment and made its way into a cat's eye in Episode 1.

Kirsh and his crew saw the eye monster making a new home for itself in the cat's eye, following which, it hijacked its nervous system and took full control of the feline's body and mind. This scary spectacle was just one of the indicators that Alien: Earth's eye monster is a far bigger fish than Xenomorphs and facehuggers.

For anyone still not convinced that the creepy eye monster is the most dangerous life form in the FX series, there is certainly more to its abilities and powers. As if hijacking one's eye and nervous system is not enough, Kirsh and the crew also found additional data, which revealed that Species 64 has impressive problem-solving skills, even similar to those of humans. The eye monster can capture the entire nervous system of its host by entering through ocular pathways.

Interestingly, another weird detail about the eye monster hints that it likely feeds through the host's body. This was suggested when the Lost Boys found the cat licking the blood off the floor, after it was hijacked by the eye monster. This also hints that the eye monster can be somehow defeated or weakened if stopped from entering a new body.

The eye-monster's introduction in the Alien franchise is even more dangerous with its mind-controlling abilities and its desire to prey on intelligent hybrids and synthetics. With its recent stare-down with Boy Kavalier in the Prodigy lab, it looks like Alien: Earth is gearing up for an epic showdown, where the opportunistic trillionaire might even use the species' abilities to his advantage. As with Kavalier, nothing is certain!

Alien: Earth releases weekly episodes on FX and Hulu.
