Season 2 Episode 8 of the Netflix drama Wednesday opens with an ongoing tussle between Isaac and the Addams family. Supporting Isaac are Tyler and his mother, the two powerful Hydes.
In one scene, when the Addams family reaches the location to rescue Pugsley, they see that Tyler is being electrocuted to cure his Hyde abilities and feeding on Pugsley's life. Wednesday comes closer to him with an axe and raises her hand to kill him. While Tyler begs her to kill him, she simply breaks his chains, provoking him to turn into Hyde and chase Isaac. This was a smart move by Wednesday.
The reason she did not kill Tyler could be strategic or simply driven by unresolved feelings. She judged that if freed, Tyler would become a Hyde and go after Isaac, giving them the time to rescue Pugsley. Secondly, she couldn't kill him as some unresolved feelings are still lingering after their romance from Season 1. Read on to know more.

Here is why Wednesday spared Tyler in the show's finale despite their rivalry
By Episode 8 of Season 2, the tussle between Isaac and the Addams family reaches its climax. It was revealed that 30 years ago, Isaac tried to use young Gomez's powers to cure Francois, but Tish interrupted at the right time, saving Gomez and burying Isaac somewhere in the woods.
In Season 2, Isaac is again trying to use Pugsley's electrokinesis to cure Francois. They try to eliminate Wednesday first. They buried her and took Pugsley for a supernatural experiment. When they managed to put Pugsley under the machine, Isaac put her son, Tyler, on the table at Francoise's request. Tyler didn't want to lose his Hyde powers and resisted, questioning her mother.
"It's too late for me, sweetie. This is your time," says Francoise to Tyler.
Tyler reminds her that she doesn't have any right to take his powers away. Meanwhile, the Addams family enters, and Wednesday goes up to Tyler, who is now being electrocuted. Tyler begs her to kill him, but rather, Wednesday simply breaks his chains with the axe. The next moment, Tyler transforms into Hyde and attacks Isaac.
As mentioned, there could be 2 reasons why Wednesday chooses not to kill Tyler at the moment. She played it smart by judging Tyler's next step if freed. The Addams family was now out of his target, as now it would be Isaac he would go after. This would give the Addams family enough time to rescue Pugsley.
Secondly, Wednesday still has some unresolved feelings for Tyler, and hence she couldn't kill him in the finale. This would give a doorway to explore the forgotten romance between Wednesday and Tyler in the coming episodes. As Wednesday said in Season 1,
"Of course, the first guy I kissed would turn out to be a psychotic, serial killing monster."
And Wednesday is someone who might even enjoy this.
What happened between Wednesday and Tyler in Season 1?

In Season 1, Wednesday and Tyler become friends, while Wednesday decodes the interconnected web of mysteries: the monster who is attacking people and hunting for their body parts, and the history of outcasts Nevermore has, guided by Goody Adams, her ancestor.
All this while, Tyler seems to help her in her case, being a normie. Tyler admitted his feelings to her. Encouraged by Enid and Thing, Wednesday and Tyler go on their first date, where they are about to kiss when Tyler's dad and a cop arrive while investigating a case. But kissing Tyler provokes a vision for Wednesday, and she finally gets the answer about who the real monster is. She realizes that Xavier is wrongly caught while the sheriff is trying to save his son.
Though it was heartwarming to see the absurdly dark girl feeling for someone, it was revealed that Tyler's mother was a Hyde, and so is Tyler, positioning them against each other.
