Emily Brubaker, after winning the Yes, Chef! Season 1 had an exclusive invitation to Martha Stewart. This was revealed through a comment she made during the finale about Martha coming somewhere, but fans were not sure what the story behind it was.

Thus, during an interview with NBC Insider, the winner revealed the entire thing that the two had going on between them. It all started in episode 3, and Emily explained that it was not the first time that she had met the Yes, Chef! judge. She revealed,

"Martha asked where I had worked, because she and I have crossed paths before in 2018, long ago. I told her I was at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, and she goes, 'If you win, I'll come visit you.' So, I kept joking about it the whole season, like, 'Are you gonna come see me?' She's like, 'You have to win!' So after I won, I was like, 'Will you come see me now?’"

When asked if Martha had visited her till now, she smiled and said that she is still waiting.

Emily Brubaker shares her side of the story during her time on Yes, Chef!

Yes, Chef! had a concept of bringing on professional chefs in the industry who have some personal behavioral issues or others. Some deal with excessive anger, some with perfectionism, and Emily revealed she dealt with a lack of self-confidence.

Coming onto the show, she had always doubted herself, but now that her journey is over, through hosts and mentor Martha and José, she has shaped her thoughts and improved.

Emily said that earlier, she was stubborn, but during the finale, when she had her husband, Jake Brubake, and sous chef Jake Lawler helping her, there were a lot of things that went wrong and were out of her control.

However, instead of losing her calm, Emily decided to deal with it in a better, calm way. To that, she said,

"I try to be a good person. I try to be a nurturer. I try to lift those around me,” she said of her personal goals. "Watching the show, I was focused on the food, and I wasn't focused on drama. I wasn't focused on how to better myself against someone else. I was just bettering myself."

Her husband had made bread pudding during the finale to help her; however, it was undercooked. The Yes, Chef! winner remarked that the old her would have snapped and retaliated against her husband; however, this time, she did not.

She says that the two of them work together well; however, there are times that her stubbornness has held things against him, which "isn't healthy." Now that she is out of the show, the chef is focusing on how they can be stronger together.

Even though there were things that were going wrong, Emily and Jake decided that there were things that were well within their control, and they decided to fix those.
