Ahsoka Season 2 is currently filming, and as it happens, people are theorizing what will happen in the series and the possible cameos. One of these possible cameos that fans are hoping for is that of Mon Mothma's cousin, Vel Sartha. Vel was last seen in the Andor Season 2 finale. It needs to be said that Vel was alive even one year before the events of A New Hope.

Therefore, it won't be surprising that Vel might be alive and well even during the events of Ahsoka Season 2, which is set after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. While Vel's inclusion in Ahsoka seems like an interesting proposition, at this moment, it is just a fan theory and nothing more.

Why would Vel's inclusion in Ahsoka Season 2 make sense?

We meet Vel for the first time in Andor Season 1 as a part of a small band of rebels who try to rob an imperial outpost on the planet of Aldhani. Cassian joins this small team to help in this mission. A few episodes later, it is revealed that Vel is Mon Mothma's cousin. Thus, it has been set up since her introduction that Vel, much like her politician cousin, is in the trenches, fighting the empire.

The first season of Ahsoka finally canonized some elements from the books that were written after Return of the Jedi, which were declared non-canonical and rebranded them as "legends" by Disney in 2012, after purchasing Lucasfilm. One of the characters that was introduced in those books was Grand Admiral Thrawn, who attempts to rebuild the Empire after its defeat in Return of the Jedi.

However, almost a decade later, Thrawn was officially canonized by Disney by introducing him in Ahsoka Season 1, which streamed on Disney+ in 2023. Much like his motivation in the books, Thrawn is a remnant of the Empire and aims to reestablish it with him at the top. The season 1 finale sets the stage for an epic Ahsoka Season 2 by the titular character and her Padawan Sabine Wren being stranded in Peridea.

We already saw Genevieve O'Reilly's Mon Mothma in three episodes of the first season. Therefore, if Vel were still alive during the events of this series, she would be responsible for identifying and eliminating the remnants of the Empire, which also includes Thrawn and his forces. Therefore, if Faye Marsay signs on to Ahsoka Season 2, then we might see her finally react to the fantasy element of the series.

What will Ahsoka Season 2 be about?

Details about Ahsoka's second season are still under wraps, but we do know that the series is currently being filmed. This week, Star Wars fans received a tease about what we can expect from season 2 from actress Ivanna Sakhno, who returns as Shin Hati from the first season. She was on the press tour for M3GAN 2.0 when the actress was asked about Ahsoka Season 2. She responded:

"You know, there's absolutely nothing that I can speak on at the moment, and I wish I could share with you something at least, because it's such an exciting time for us to be back together, and we're currently in the middle of filming it. All I can say is that it is bigger and even more in-depth, and I'm really excited for people to see it. It means the world."
