Adapted from the acclaimed Japanese manga, Netflix's Bet has been well-received among fans. It follows the story of a girl named Yumeko Kawamoto, a talented teen with incredible gambling skills.
While the show takes inspiration from the Japanese manga Kakegurui, it's been redesigned to suit a Western setting, giving it a fresh but equally intense feel. As seen in the first episode, everything changes when Yumeko enters St. Dominic's as a new transfer student.
Her goal? To kill those responsible for murdering her parents. And she even succeeds by the end of the show, but the finale leaves the door open for more. So does that mean the live-action adaptation will return for more?
As of now, Bet hasn't been renewed for a season 2 by Netflix, but if the makers decide to continue, there are a lot of unanswered questions. A new chapter can reveal if Yumeko's mother really survived the fire and more.
The series unfolds at St. Dominic’s, a competitive school. However, this is no ordinary boarding school, and the students' social hierarchy is also not based on school grades or popularity.
Everything is operated by a secret underground gambling system. The more a student wins, the stronger their social position becomes. On the other hand, if a student loses, they are often faced with degrading, humiliating servitude defined by being called "house pets."

Has Netflix renewed Bet for Season 2? Explained

As previously mentioned, Netflix hasn’t officially decided whether Bet will return for a second season. It’s already been more than a week since the show premiered, and Netflix hasn’t given any updates, which might also result in a cancellation.
Usually, if a show performs extremely well in its early days, Netflix tends to renew it quickly. On the other hand, shows that don't generate immediate buzz may struggle to get renewed, and that seems to be the case here.
According to viewing data, Bet pulled in 2.4 million views during its first week, with a global watch time of 13.7 million hours. While these numbers might seem decent at first glance, they’re quite weak for a Netflix original, especially one with an existing fan base.
However, this also doesn't mean that there's almost no chance for Bet to get another thrilling chapter on Netflix. There have been series, including The OA, Sweet Tooth, and a few more that were greenlit for Season 2 despite decent viewership on the streamer.

What can fans expect from a potential Bet Season 2?

Initially, Yumeko thought it was Blake's father who killed her parents. However, it was just a misunderstanding, and Blake and her father were killed in a tragic blast, orchestrated by Kira and Riri's father.
As the series unfolds, Yumeko learns that Michael's father was called Ray, and he was also a part of the elite Kakegurui. In a shocking twist, Yumeko learns that the entire club was behind killing her parents, and that they must pay the price.
However, by the end of the series, Yumeko only manages to kill Ray, who also informs her that her mother is alive. However, he didn't tell Yumeko where she is, and this can be a big revelation in a possible Bet Season 2.
Not only this, since Kira and Yumeko became partners in the end, their alliance can also be explored further. Yumeko promised Kira that she would help her prove that her father was wrong in making Riri the school representative.
Additionally, Ray mentioned that Yumeko's parents had the blockchain code that would get them $30 billion. But Yumeko doesn't remember if she has a key, which again becomes a burning question for a Season 2.
What if the code is on the Kakegurui chip Yumeko wears? Or will she go on a hunt for the code? Only Season 2 can answer these intriguing questions.
