Acorn TV renewed Irish Blood Season 2 even before the Season 1 finale. The Alicia Silverstone-starring 2025 murder mystery series, which wrapped its Season 1 with an explosive finale on September 8, will return for a sophomore season in 2026.

Irish Blood is a six-part murder mystery that follows a lawyer, Fiona, whose father (Declan) abandoned his family on her tenth birthday. However, a surprising message from her estranged father sends Fiona to Ireland to uncover a string of family secrets and the truth behind Declan's abandonment. Season 1 of Irish Blood saw Fiona discover the truth behind Declan's shady business, following which she was entangled in his murder mystery.

Irish Blood Season 2 will follow another six-part mystery that will lead Fiona to more family secrets, especially about her aunt Una, who was revealed as her father's killer in the finale. The second season will also be set and produced in Ireland, like the debut season.

The series also stars Jason O’Mara, Wendy Crewson, Simone Kirby, Dearbhla Molloy, and Ruth Codd.

Acorn TV renewed Irish Blood Season 2 before the Season 1 finale

It is no wonder that Acorn TV announced Irish Blood Season 2 even before the Season 1 finale. The series drove the biggest day of subscriber signups on its premiere in nearly two years. Additionally, the Irish Blood premiere also became the most-watched series premiere in Acorn TV's history, which makes this renewal news even more justified.

Expressing her gratitude and excitement for Irish Blood Season 2, Silverstone said in a statement:

"It means so much to continue this journey with a character I love. Thank you to everyone who’s watched and supported, and to the phenomenal Irish crew and actors who made working there such a joy, and to the entire team across this series.''

In addition, Rob Fox, executive VP of production for AMC Networks, also extended his gratitude to Silverstone, who continues to contribute to this project both as an actor and an executive producer. Fox also extended his heartfelt thanks to the entire cast, writers, and Irish crew, who helped bring this monumental Acorn TV murder mystery to life. Summing up, Fox said in a statement:

''We are so grateful for the way our subscribers have embraced this series and can’t wait to get started on season two.''

What can you expect from Irish Blood Season 2?

Irish Blood Season 2 will naturally pick up from the many loose threads left in the Season 1 finale. While Fiona solved her father's murder mystery in the final episode, Father AI's return suggests that Fiona's troubles are far from over.

The Irish Blood finale revealed that it was Declan's sister and Fiona's aunt, Una, who accidentally pushed her brother, which led to his death. While this tragic event was accidental, Una is directly involved in Declan's shady business and likely knows the mastermind behind all his crimes and killings. One of the most exciting mysteries for Irish Blood Season 2 is the identity of the real mastermind. While Declan earlier hinted that it might be a family member, Una refused to talk, even while being in prison.

Lastly, Father AI's return is another riveting mystery for Irish Blood Season 2. The final moments of the Season 1 finale saw Father AI visiting Mary in her bakery in the US while on a call with Fiona. He threatens to harm Mary if Fiona doesn't give him Declan's hard drive, which is key evidence in the show.

Una's involvement in Declan's shady dealings and his hard drive will likely be the two biggest mysteries for Fiona to solve in Irish Blood Season 2. While she learned the mystery behind her father's abandonment in Season 1, new family secrets and identities will continue to plague her in the sophomore season.
