Mare of Easttown Season 2: Brad Inglesby shares an update
Mare of Easttown follows Winslet’s character, Marianne ‘Mare’ Sheehan, a detective sergeant in the small Pennsylvania town of Easttown. The narrative depicted how Mare investigated the murder of a young girl while also looking into the disappearance of another. The case turned more difficult when people closer to her became suspects.
Speculations of a season 2 of the crime drama have always been on the rise due to fans’ love for Winslet’s character, due to her grounded and real portrayal. With Inglesby’s recent comments on the show’s future, fans of the show have been more excited than ever.
In the recent Hollywood Reporter interview, the creator shared that he and Winslet often discuss the show and the character whom he finds “appealing”. To add to his previous comment, he stated:
"I always think about Mare [Winslet’s main character]. She’s one of the most appealing characters, in so many ways, because she’s funny. You’re able to have her do terrible, terrible things and people still love her because it’s out of a love of family. Every now and then we’ll talk about it, Kate and I."
He further added that they haven’t decided on a story yet, and also that Winslet’s character is one of those characters that still has room to grow, and quipped,
"But we haven’t pinned down one story. There are characters I’ve written that are over and finished. I’ve done everything I can do with them. Mare certainly isn’t that character. She’s one that has a lot of potential to grow and evolve."
While there is no story for a Season 2 of the fan favorite series, Inglesby’s comments paint a hopeful picture for the show's return on our screens.
