The French historical TV series, Néro the Assassin is out on Netflix, which tells a story set in the 16th century, packed with action, betrayal and political tension among the characters. At the heart of the show is a skilled assassin named Néro who's tasked with killing an influential figure.

What makes this drama intriguing to watch is how it adds a magical touch to the story. As seen in the first episode, Néro dictates his story and reveals working for Nicolas de Rochemort, who is a ruthless vice-consul of Lamartine.

Before we dive into the story, fans have been curious if there's another chapter of the show. As of now, Netflix hasn't renewed Néro the Assassin for a second season. But there are a few questions left that can be explored later.

As the series begins, Néro is ordered to kill his daughter, Hortense’s fiancé, Tancrede so that she can marry the Prince of Ségur, and Rochemort can rise to power and gain more wealth. However, little did he know that his master would soon betray him.

Later, Néro learns about a prophecy: His daughter, Perla, has the ultimate power or key to stop the drought and restore magic to the land. But the sad part is that Néro left Perla in an orphanage, as she was born to a prostitute.

As of now, Netflix hasn't shared any update on the renewal of Néro the Assassin. The historical drama came out a day before, so it's quite early for the makers to confirm if there will be more about the assassin and his land.

At the same time, historical dramas are carefully evaluated for renewal as they require a large production cost, notable viewership, and a story that aligns with the first season finale. All these factors could play a big role while Netflix makes a decision about this show.

Season 1 of Néro the Assassin set an impressive standard for action sequences, time-accurate sets, and high drama. The mixture of history, magic, and intrigue creates a very different experience than other shows of the same genre. And there were many characters, each with ongoing changes to their development, like the enigmatic one-eyed witch (and the Penitents with newfound powers).

In the season finale, tensions fully boil over. Hortense, a primary ally, leads an insurgency against the brutal regime of Brother Penance and the Archbishop. Néro, initially supportive of the group, sold the plans to the enemy.

Perla made a significant sacrifice, using the one-eyed witch's knife to bring life back to the land, thus ending the drought. But after a brief moment, she was captured, leaving Néro and his companions to wrestle with consequences and their future.

So, if there's a potential Season 2 of Néro the Assassin, it could follow the events of the last episode and reveal what happened to Perla and what comes next for Néro. It can also focus on his relationship with allies like Horace, Lothar, and Zineb as they're still facing threats from the Church and remaining Penitents.
