Sylvia and Will concluded another chapter of their friendship in the Apple comedy series and fans are wondering if they will return in Platonic Season 3.

Platonic, the comedy series created by husband-wife duo Francesca Delbanco & Nicholas Stoller, premiered its Season 2 finale on Apple TV+ on October 1, 2025. The platform has neither confirmed nor canceled the show for a future season, but the show's popularity and streaming numbers hint that it will likely return for another season.

Will (Seth Rogen) and Sylvia (Rose Byrne) ended Platonic Season 2 with a heart-to-heart conversation about their future, where it was hinted that they will become business partners in the future.

It is only a testament to Byrne and Rogen's acting prowess and their undeniable (but platonic) chemistry that Delbanco and Stoller brought the lead best friends back for a sophomore outing in Platonic Season 2. The comedy series was initially envisioned as an anthology series, with fresh pairings each season, but Will and Sylvia's dynamic was just too adorable to pass on. Additionally, Byrne and Rogen have become the faces of the show and Platonic fans love their on-screen friendship.

While the viewership numbers (for the Season 2 finale) are yet to be announced, Sylvia and Will can likely return for Platonic Season 3. The co-creators have expressed their desire for more seasons and if Apple TV+ believes in the show's potential, the comedy series can return for a third season.

Additionally, Seth Rogen has expressed his desire to return for Platonic Season 3. In a statement to Decider, the recent Emmy winner for another Apple TV+ comedy series, The Studio, said:

“I would love to keep doing Platonic. I think there are really great storylines for the season. And it’s something I would love to keep doing as long as people enjoy watching it.”

As Stoller revealed, Apple TV+ felt that Byrne and Rogen have become the show's identity, and the platform could likely invest in a future season with the powerhouse duo.

Platonic Season 3 could explore Sylvia and Will's business relationship

The sophomore outing of the best friends was filled with intense confrontations and emotional arguments that changed into a full-fledged falling out in the Platonic Season 2 finale. While Sylvia blamed Will for her husband's career switch, he accused her of the recent falling out with Jenna. The Season 2 finale featured a tense moment in their friendship and it looked like Will and Sylvia were done for good until Johnny 66's non-compete notice changed everything for them.

Will was devastated to learn that the non-compete notice does not allow him to open his own bar, the beer enthusiast's passion project, for long. However, Stewart and Charlie find a loophole in Will's contract and conclude that he can still open the bar if the owner's name is changed, which brings him to his best friend.

The latest outing tested the power of their friendship but Platonic Season 3 could likely thrust the two into a new dynamic. Sylvia made some necessary changes in the drinks menu and just like that, Will's passion project might come to light in the future season.

However, since both Will and Sylvia realized that their friendship requires work, Platonic Season 3 will also focus on their evolved friendship.
