If you’ve been hoping for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 4, it’s time to face the truth: Season 3 is the show’s grand finale, closing the story for good.
Considering the global fanbase that Jenny Han's novel and Prime Video series have, fans would love to see if there's more. But as mentioned before, Season 3 has marked the end of an era for the Cousins Beach, and currently, there's no update on whether Amazon MGM Studios wants to continue the story.
There have been speculations that Han has prepared a surprise or bonus episode for Bonrad and Jellyfish shippers, but after watching the finale, we know that the trio won't return. The episode is titled "At Last", featuring the most-awaited reunion between Isabel "Belly" Conklin and Conard Fisher as they returned to the Summer house at Cousins.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 4 isn't confirmed: Here's why
The Summer I Turned Pretty novels by Jenny Han hold a special place in every fan's heart, and so does the Prime Video series. From a perfect cast including Lola Tung, Gavin Casalegno, and Christopher Briney, to Han surprising viewers with some twists, the show is nothing less than a roller coaster ride.
It all started with Belly Conklin returning to Cousins during her Summer break and getting into a love triangle with the Fisher brothers. While Conrad has always been her first love, Belly also developed feelings for Jeremiah, believing that he cares fr her more.
But in Season 3, they finally broke up and even canceled their wedding. This gave Conrad the chance to reconcile with Belly as he later met her in Paris. After spending a passionate night, followed by Belly's eventual realization, Bonrad becomes the highlight, with others also getting a happy ending, including Jeremiah Fisher.
Following the last episode, many fans must be curious about whether Jenny Han and Amazon MGM Studios have planned a Season 4 of The Summer I Turned Pretty. As of now, there's no confirmation that there's another chapter coming.
However, Han did say "Never say never — I never do", explaining that if she had a great idea and the cast was excited to continue, she would love to continue. She added:
"It really depends on if I feel like there is more story to tell... Amazon Prime has been very supportive of my vision, and I haven’t felt a pressure to keep it going just to keep it going."
Jenny Han continued:
"It’s all about doing what’s best for the story. And you obviously want to give the fans a really satisfying ending."
Interestingly, Vernon Sanders of Amazon MGM Studios mentioned that the team will do what Han wants. He mentioned that the creator even has some new ideas whihc they would love to explore. However, the final call remains in Han's hands.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 4 or a spinoff: What the story could explore

Since a formal Season 4 of The Summer I Turned Pretty isn’t confirmed, people are speculating. Here are some of the story directions that seem plausible, given what the show/book left off with, what creators hinted at, and what gaps are left:
A prequel focusing on Laurel and Susannah's early days: One of the most popular discussions on social media is a prequel that dives into Laurel and Susannah's lives before they had kids. Since Laurel was the first to date Adam, it would be interesting if the makers dig into this plot as well.
Jeremiah's journey after the cancelled wedding: Since Jere started working on himself and trying to build a career, a spinoff can explore whether he's still with Denise or has found someone else.
Belly and Conrad's life after marriage: As Season 3 concluded with Belly and Conrad back as a couple, a continuation could explore their life after marriage.
