William H. Macy joins cast of Dan Fogelman’s NFL drama for Hulu

Fargo (1996) and Shameless fame, William H. Macy, has now joined the cast of Dan Fogelman’s next untitled series. As per Deadline, the untitled series will be an exploration of the NFL world and is being created for Hulu.

Macy is the second member to be announced to be joining the project, as Christopher Meloni of Law & Order: Organized Crime fame was announced earlier as joining the Fogelman series.

Deadline reported that William H. Macy will play the role of the owner of an NFL team named Hank Durkin. His character is one of the regular characters of the untitled series, which is said to use themes of generational family and legacies. The sports drama series will also star Christopher Meloni, who will appear as the head coach of an NFL team, and the name of his character is revealed to be Danny Roarke.

Both of their characters will be among the main characters of the sports drama, which is written by Dan Fogelman, known for creating This Is Us and Paradise. Fogelman is also the executive producer of the untitled Hulu series, and will be joined by Jesse Sisgold, Jess Rosenthal, David Ellison, and Jason T. Reed for the studio, Skydance Sports.

The 20th Television-produced series is yet to reveal more cast and characters of the series. In addition, the synopsis and plot of the upcoming sports drama are also being kept under wraps for now. The untitled project was first announced to be under development in October 2024 at Hulu, with Meloni joining the series in July 2025.

Other than the two cast members, not much about anything, including a release date, has been confirmed yet.
