With the premiere of Yellowstone in 2018, Taylor Sheridan created a compelling tale about the Dutton spanning through generations and seasons. The successful Sheridan-created universe gave us numerous memorable narratives and characters to root for or criticize. One of those characters was Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly.

Introduced as the daughter of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton III, Beth was a bold and fearless character. A banker by profession, Beth was intimidating to many, not just because of her intelligence and manipulative nature, but also because of her style that exudes confidence and helps maintain her icy exterior. While she is known for her terrifying comebacks, the wardrobe and style also came in handy to gain the attention of everyone around her, be it with an elegant silk dress or just a simple T-shirt and jeans.

Here’s a list of 10 times when Beth Dutton’s style was enough to demonstrate her ferocious and unyielding personality in Yellowstone.

Yellowstone: 10 times Beth Dutton’s style was as fierce as her comebacks

10) Her floral-printed Black Dress

In episode 13 of Yellowstone’s season 5, Beth makes a deal with Tavis, played by Sheridan himself, to sell their horses. She is even ready to beg him to agree with her, showing the lengths she will go to complete her tasks.

However, a black dress without any of Beth’s comebacks would have been a waste. Thankfully, we did get a fierce look when she confronted a man who approached her in the bar and tore him apart by guessing his background of being a Penn State graduate and cheating on his wife. The fierceness and manipulative techniques of Beth Dutton were on full display in that daring and chic black dress.

9) The La Femme T-shirt

Beth’s style didn’t just consist of bold and sensuous dresses but also the cool and casual everyday wear like jeans and a t-shirt. In the premiere episode of Yellowstone season 4, as Beth went to visit her father, who woke up after a coma, the first thing she informed him was that the doctor said he might not ever wake up. However, here he is, distorting everyone’s thinking and coming to wake up from a coma.

In the same episode, Beth meets Carter, the 14-year-old who has suddenly piqued her interest and also impresses her when he says his final words to his dying heroin-addict father, which is a simple see you in hell. Impressed by him, she comments on his style by saying she liked it. This might be the softer and cooler Beth that we rarely see in the series, showing her maternal side to the boy she would later end up adopting. The La-femme t-shirt was an added style quotient, displaying the laid-back side of Beth’s character.

8) The blue ruffle trim blouse

In season 4, episode 8, Beth in the chic blue ruffle trim blouse slays in appearance and also successfully manipulates the Market Equities into making national news, not in a good way. She advises her boss to kick reporters out and call the police to force the protesters out of the construction site. But later on, she herself informs a reporter to record the brutality the police use to get rid of the protestors, which they think might become national news. Beth then calls the NY Times to give a tip on the situation in Montana.

7) Her plaid flannel shirt

The episode highlights the Duttons without John in their lives in episode 12 of season 5 of Yellowstone. Beth, wearing a grey-black flannel shirt well suited for ranch life and contrasting with her typical intense wardrobe choices, is one of the episode's highlights.

In fear of Jamie blurting out all of their family secrets during Sarah’s murder investigation, Beth decides to take the matter into her own hands and take care of Jamie while also taking care of her adopted son, who thinks he is responsible for Colby’s death. Beth tries to make him understand that it was not his fault.

Earlier in seasons 2 and 3, Beth mostly wore a shirt with a pencil skirt, defining her take on power dressing. Now, she wears a shirt more casually, but still exudes the same level of control and power, which is nice to see.

6) Her blue Poncho

The blue poncho marks one of the significant parts in the storyline of Beth and the Duttons in Yellowstone. In episode 6 of season 3, while Beth talks to John about how he is going to take care of the pressing matters regarding Yellowstone, she also points out to him how Kayce and Jamie are no help, and she cannot do it all alone. John advises her to have more trust in Jamie.

This angers her, and she reveals why she doesn’t trust Jamie, which causes a huge rift between John and Jamie. The Poncho, which is supposed to protect her from the chilly and windy weather, also becomes another layer of protection when she reveals the secret in front of her family, about the sterilization that Jamie subjected her to when she was pregnant with Rip’s child as a teen. While mostly, Beth appeared to be wearing the bold dresses, this one was more to hide herself from her own truth, for which Jamie was to be blamed, and she hated him for it.

5) The date night dress

The floral-print silk midi dress that Beth wears in episode 10 of season 5 of Yellowstone is a favorite among many viewers. She surprises her husband, Rip, in Texas as they spend some time away from Montana and its complications.

This allowed Beth to let her hair down and spend some time with her husband, while also keeping an eye on him and not losing any fashion points.

4) Her green cardigan

Beth’s style is often a result of the dramatic situations in the episodes. For instance, in episode 9 of Season 5, a crucial episode in the Yellowstone universe, finally reveals John Dutton's death, shown through flashbacks for several weeks.

Beth, wearing a floral patterned dress, completes the look with the green cardigan, reaches the mansion, and finds her father’s body in the bathroom. Her first reaction is that this might be done by Jamie, who killed their father.

3) The white Rove dress

Apart from a black dress, Beth also adorned a white ‘Rove’ dress during the ranch auction in episode 13 of season 5. While taking care of the auction, Beth did not miss a chance to spew hate toward Jamie and also tried to find out about the murderer of her father.

The white dress, the sandy hot weather of Montana made the dress well-suited for the occasion.

2) The gold metallic dress

One of Beth Dutton’s iconic dresses from Yellowstone would be the gold chainmail dress. The low-cut, bold dress was as dramatic as the situation in which she wore it.

Wearing that dress to confront Riggins in prison was a bold and dramatic move, and suited Beth's character as she questions him about who sent him to kill them. She later returns with the information that Riggins has already told Jamie everything, resulting in a heated confrontation between Jamie and Beth. The finale of season 4 was spectacular for its storytelling. Beth’s style has to be one of the highlights of the dramatic episode.

1) The iconic leopard print coat

Leopard print and Beth Dutton go hand in hand as she has shown her love for the fierce and bold design by wearing it several times throughout the show. For instance, the scene where she saves Monica from a group of women and also destroys the boutique in the process in season 3, episode 5 of Yellowstone will always remain iconic.

Beth’s bold fashion choices help her stand out and exude the intimidating energy she uses to her advantage, and she moves forward. The leopard print coat is an example of the power of Beth Dutton that makes her one of the most formidable characters of Taylor Sheridan's western drama.
