Yes, Chef! has already eliminated five contestants by the end of episode 5, which aired on May 26, 2025. The series brings together talented chefs for a team-based culinary showdown judged by José Andrés and Martha Stewart.
Each week, chefs compete in team challenges, and the least successful chefs face cookoffs to avoid elimination. The chefs who have left the competition so far are Petrina Peart, Torrece "Chef T" Gregoire, Michelle Francis, Julia Chebotar, and Peter Richardson.
Still competing for the title are Emily Brubaker, Lee Frank, Zain Ismail, Jake Lawler, Ronny Miranda, Christopher Morales, and Katsuji Tanabe. Here’s a detailed look at every Yes, Chef! contestant eliminated through the first five episodes.
A closer look at every Yes, Chef! Elimination so far
1) Chef Petrina Peart – Eliminated April 28, 2025 (episode 1)
In the premiere of Yes, Chef!, Chef Petrina Peart became the first contestant to be eliminated from the competition. The episode’s MVP was Chef Michelle Francis, who selected Chef Katsuji Tanabe for the cookoff, citing concerns over his lack of leadership during the team challenge.
The two were tasked with preparing a dish from a global cuisine. Chef Michelle chose Greek and presented a Red Snapper with Chorizo and Corn on Rice. Katsuji countered with an Avocado Nopales Salad featuring chayote, jicama, and tomatillo sauce. His dish impressed the judges more.
Despite telling Michelle he would let her decide who to send home if he won, Katsuji broke that promise. He eliminated Petrina instead, stating that her earlier performance had been the weakest.
José Andrés had previously noted that Petrina’s gazpacho was “disappointing” given her Spanish background. Petrina expressed her frustration on-camera, saying, “It was a cowardly way of making a decision,” after not being picked to compete in the cookoff herself.
2) Chef Torrece “Chef T” Gregoire – Eliminated May 5, 2025 (episode 2)
Episode 2 of Yes, Chef!, titled 'Martha’s Roast,' ended with Chef T’s elimination. After the team challenges, Team Blue lost. MVP Emily Brubaker was safe from elimination and decided to face Michelle in the cookoff.
Both chefs prepared chicken dishes: Michelle made Thai Chicken with Broccoli Rabe, Cipollini Onions, and Fried Potatoes; Emily created Piccata Style Chicken with Mushrooms and Artichoke Dip. Neither dish fully satisfied the judges. Martha Stewart noted the absence of lemon and capers in Emily’s dish, while Michelle’s chicken was called “a little mushy.”
Despite her concerns, Michelle won the round and was given the power to choose who went home. She chose Chef T, saying that she was a strong competitor and therefore a threat.
Chef Zain said on-camera that Michelle was “trying to look out for herself.” Chef T addressed Michelle directly, saying, “You are intimidated by my talent,” before leaving the Yes, Chef! kitchen.
3) Chef Michelle Francis – Eliminated May 12, 2025 (episode 3)
In episode 3, Chef Zain Ismail led Team Green to a challenge and was named MVP. She picked Chef Ronny Miranda from the opposing team to battle in the elimination cook-off.
The task required chefs to cook a dish using a limited number of ingredients drawn at random. Ronny, with 16 ingredients, made Tom Kha Gai Soup with Clams. Zain used 13 to make a Spring Roll Salad with Shrimp.
The judges found Ronny’s soup stronger overall, while Martha criticized Zain’s salad as “watery.” Ronny, now in control of the elimination, assessed his teammates’ dishes and chose to eliminate Chef Michelle Francis, stating her consommé was the weakest. Michelle became the third chef to exit Yes, Chef! after previously surviving two cookoffs.
4) Chef Julia Chebotar – Eliminated May 19, 2025 (episode 4)
Episode 4 featured an ingredients-limitation twist. With Team Blue winning the challenge, Team Green chefs Ronny, Julia, and Zain faced off in a cookoff. Each was assigned a difficult ingredient: Ronny got dark chocolate, Julia received vanilla bean, and Zain was handed licorice root.
Chef Julia prepared a Grilled Lettuce Salad with Oyster, Shallot, and Vanilla Vinaigrette. José Andrés complimented her restraint with the vanilla but said the flavors didn’t come together.
Martha Stewart noted the lettuce was “too delicate for the grill.” Ronny’s chocolate pudding was praised, and Zain’s gnocchi were criticized as “hard rocks.” Ultimately, Julia was eliminated for her dish’s weak concept and execution, becoming the fourth chef to exit Yes, Chef!.
5) Chef Peter Richardson – Eliminated May 26, 2025 (episode 5)
Episode 5 of Yes, Chef! centered on the perfect egg dish. Chef Peter Richardson and Chef Chris Morales were chosen for the cookoff. Peter prepared Deviled Eggs with Mayonnaise, Dijon, Paprika, and Caviar.
José said he enjoyed the flavor and even had seconds. Martha disagreed, pointing out the eggs were cracked, overly salty, and had a runny texture. She said Peter was “very rough with the eggs.” The judges sent Peter home for presentation and texture flaws, eliminating him as the fifth contestant from Yes, Chef!
