Kim Go-eun and Park Ji-hyun's new K-drama, You and Everything Else, was launched on Netflix on September 12th, 2025. The drama revolves around Ryu Eun-jung and Sang-yeon, two women who were close in their younger years but became separated due to the difficulties in their friendship.

However, they reunited in their 40s, faced with a difficult period in their life. As the drama continues, we discover that their relationship was filled with tension, jealousy and admiration.

The first episode dives straight into the past when Eun-jung and Sang-yeon were little girls in school. Sang-yeon was a new student, and Eun-jung was not so happy to see her. The reason? She was jealous of her.

The story is incredibly relatable as Eun-jung's reason to hate her classmate was the inferiority she faced. To her, Sang-yeon had everything she didn't, leading to clashes between them. Interestingly, they cared for each other, too, but that feeling was hidden deep inside them.

Years later, Eun-jung is leaving a peaceful life, and suddenly, Sang-yeon returns. Curious to know why and how did You and Everything Else concluded? Keep reading below!

The emotional center of You and Everything Else lies with the friendship between Eun-jung and Sang-yeon, which has been shaped by jealousy, affinity, and misunderstandings in their lives together. Since childhood, Eun-jung and Sang-yeon have been in conflict and nothing else.

Sang-yeon seemed to be everything Eun-jung was not, and this bred jealousy and inferiority for Eun-jung. As they matured, life further complicated their relationship. Eun-jung started a relationship with Sang-hak in college, unaware that he had prior ties to Sang-yeon through her late brother.

Sang-yeon didn't know of their new relationship but had been in touch with Sang-hak all along, pretending to be her brother. Their relationship grew until she found out that Eun-jung and Sang-hak were now together and would ultimately break her heart.

The heartbreak, along with the grief of her brother's death and feelings of inadequacy, caused Sang-yeon to be angry and resentful toward Eun-jung. Sang-yeon blamed Eun-jung for causing her to feel inferior, missing the fact that Eun-jung's actions came from love and caring.

Even when they saw each other years later through work, their old wounds were exposed again, showing that their relationship had been impacted by jealousy, misunderstandings, and complicated feelings stemming from their past.

The reunion becomes one of the most emotional moments in You and Everything Else as the two friends have a lot to figure out. But little did Eunh-jung know that Sang-yeon was nothing like before. She's facing health problems.

Sang-yeon's request in You and Everything Else brought a heartbreaking farewell

The finale of You and Everything Else focuses on Sang-yeon's illness and the difficult request she makes of Eun-jung. Years after they stopped being friends, Sang-yeon suddenly comes to Eun-jung's home and asks her to go with her to Switzerland because she has cancer.

Eun-jung is startled to hear about Sang-yeon's illness and feels confused about whether she must go with her. Eung-jung hasn't faced any situation like this before, so she doubts being ready for this journey with Sang-yeon.

But when she reads Sang-yeon’s autobiography, she starts to see how much pain, jealousy, grief, and worthlessness her friend has endured for her whole life. The autobiography shows that Sang-yeon's actions of hurting Eun-jung stemmed from a desire to reconcile her own feelings.

Realizing her old friend's struggles, Eun-jung finally decides to accompany her to Switzerland in You and Everything Else. She looked forward to a meaningful time with Sang-yeon and closure before she dies.

In the last episode, Sang-yeon dies in her sleep, leaving Eun-jung heartbroken. But at least they were able to resolve their conflicts and spend time together after being separated for years.
