The wrestling drama revolves around the animosity between two brothers, one of whom is the villain, while the other is the hero. Amell’s character, Jack, is the proprietor of the DWL, the scripted wrestling matches, and is also the heel. While his younger brother, Ace, played by Alexander Ludwig, is the face or the hero.

CM Punk’s Ricky is introduced in episode 3 of Heels. His character becomes a crucial part of the series by bringing up the friction between the brothers. Amell’s Jack hires Ricky for the main event of DWL for business purposes, which Ace does not take well, as he thinks bringing Ricky might take away the limelight from him, causing conflict between the brothers.
