The news of Yumi's Cells Season 3 premiering in 2026 has fans excited. TVING shared the news a while back, and has now revealed that Kim Go-eun will reprise the titular character of Kim Yumi. The beloved K-drama premiered in 2021 and follows Yumi’s story, navigating her ordinary life but from the perspective of her brain cells.
After going through ups and downs in her love life, Yumi finally achieves her long-time dream of becoming a writer in Yumi’s Cells Season 3. The third and final season will also depict how her life changes after that. Based on the 2021 webtoon of the same name by Lee Dong-gun, the show, with its psychological take by showing how Yumi’s brain cells work to help her, has become a fan favorite.

Yumi's Cells Season 3: Kim Go-eun returns as Yumi
Fans were happy to learn about Yumi’s Cells returning for a third season early next year. Furthermore, the news of Kim Go-eun returning has made the news more exciting.
After TVING revealed that Go-eun would return for Yumi’s Cells Season 3, she shared in a press release how happy she was to come back and give a fulfilling conclusion to her character. As reported by The Korea Herald, she said:
"I’m honored and happy to continue Yumi’s story, which so many viewers loved. As an actress, I think it’s incredibly meaningful and special to portray a single character over such a long period of time."
She continued:
"Through season 3, I hope to capture the various turning points in life that a more mature Yumi experiences. Since this journey began with Yumi back in 2021, I truly want to bring it to a meaningful close."
Not only Kim Go-eun, but also the director and writer of the previous seasons Lee Sang-yeob, co-writer Kim Kyung-ran, and creator Song Jae-jeong are also expected to return for the new season, along with most of the crew.

Yumi’s Cells is a unique take on how a person’s brain works. So far on the show, the brain cells of Yumi have worked hard to awaken the love cell of her brain, which went into a coma after Yumi’s heartbreak. Through two seasons, Yumi and her brain cells struggled to keep up with her ordinary life, more so her complicated love life.
Numerous types of brain cells were introduced in the previous seasons, such as hungry cell, detective cell, naughty and emotional cell, and even fashion cell. All these and more comprise Yumi’s brain and help her go through life.
