Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) was the founder of the fantastic trio of singers called the Articulettes, and when Anita decided to take a solo trip and perform on her own, the three broke up hard, and they haven't talked since, well, until just last week on Beyond the Gates. Vernon (Clifton Davis) knew that Anita enjoyed singing, and after seeing her do karaoke with her family at Uptown, he knew he had to try to convince her to sing again. Now that he’s convinced Anita it's a good idea, she reached out to one and got hung up on; however, the next one she tried, Tracy (Maria Howell), made a positive impact, and in Tuesday's episode, Anita opens the door to her past. Will the two of them be able to make contact with the third and make reconciliation a possibility?

911, I need to report a heartbreak

Ashley (Jen Jacob) and our favorite firefighter, Derek (Ben Gavin), are not having an easy time of it living together in Ashley's small studio apartment. Right from the start, it was fraught with differences in how things should be done and where things should go, and now the two have little to say to each other without it turning awkward. What's next for these two? Ashley feels like the divide between them is growing, and then it blows up, is this reall the end for Ashley and Derek? In Tuesday's episode, Ashley’s heartbreak threatens to undo her.

Someone, please believe me

The rift between Eva (Ambyr Michelle) and her mom, Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant), grows by the day to the point now where Leslie wants nothing to do with Eva and has told her to live the life with the parent she chose. This has been hard on Eva, made worse by the fact that her birthday happened, and her mom pushed her aside again. Leslie became worried when Eva said that she had better have a good answer for when people put two and two together about Laura ending up in the hospital. Leslie, in self-preservation mode, alluded to Kat that it was Eva who ran Laura off the road. In Tuesday's episode, Eva leans into the one person who believes her. Will it be enough? Kat (Colby Muhammed) is closing in on Leslie, but that lady is slitherier than a greased weasel.
