What to expect on Beyond the Gates
Where do we start? First up next week on Beyond the Gates, we have the suspicious Dani (Karla Mosley) wanting to let Ashley (Jen Jacob) know that whatever Hayley (Marquita Goings) is up to, she’s onto her. Dani thinks Hayley has faked the pregnancy, and now that it should start to look like she has a baby bump, Hayley is faking stomach pains and will fake a miscarriage and try to pin that on Dani. Now Hayley could be called a lot of things, but even this might be a bit too much. Ashley will soon get to the bottom of the truth if Hayley is brought to Garland Memorial Hospital. Vernon (Clifton Davis), taking matters into his own hands, has a gathering at Bill's (Timon Kyle Durett) law offices, a gathering of all the people involved that fateful night two years ago. As Martin (Brandon Claybon) enters, he exclaims, “What the hell?” In the room are Joey (Jon Lindstrom), Elon (Malachi Malik), Marcel (Darryl W. Handy), Vernon, and Bill, but Martin's surprise is seeing his father, Ted (Keith D. Robinson). Annoyed at yet another being dragged into his mess, Martin is soon told by Vernon that Ted knew from the start. Martin then says to Ted, “Tell me this isn’t true.” But it is true, and Kenneth (Jason Vendryes) had Martin's friends in high places take care of him, financially and medically.
This would explain why Martin didn't recognize Keny by sight, and only by the sound of his voice. All these people have come together to solve the problem of Kenny being back, but can they all work together? Jacob (Jibre Hordges) is faced with a conundrum: can his dad be innocent, or will he be a part of taking him down with the whole crooked mess that is tied to his partner Marcel Malone? Discussing this with his wife Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), he asks what if this is just the first layer, to which Naomi asks if his dad had already cleared this matter up. He had, but the excuse for Joey paying off Marcel doesn't hold water much anymore, and Jacob will have to dig further. No good will come from this course of action without consequences. Anita (Tamara Tunie) returns home from Chicago and, while holding her husband, can feel something is amiss. She asks Vernon if something is wrong with their kingdom. Yes, very much so, but will Vernon tell her just how bad things are? Or will this strong, serious Vernon take care of this situation? Another soapy week is just around the corner!
