Michael Badalucco to appear on Y&R

Emmy winner Michael Badalucco will make a short-term appearance on The Young and the Restless next month. Badalucco, known best as "Jimmy the Grunt" from the ABC series The Practice, will play a bookie. Y&R has made news in recent months for hiring well-known film and television for short-term roles.

The Young and the Restless has signed another former primetime player for a recurring role. In recent months, the top-rated soap has made a habit of placing well-known stars from television and film into key, albeit short-term, roles.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Emmy winner Michael Badalucco, known best for his role as Jimmy Berluti on the David E. Kelley legal drama, The Practice, has been cast in the role of Hogan. Hogan is said to be a bookie who helps Jeffrey and Kevin raise cash to pay for Gloworm. In a bit of irony, Badalucco's character on The Practice got himself into some hot water with a bookie because of a gambling problem.

In addition to his work on The Practice, Badalucco has made guest-starring appearances on Cold Case and In Plain Sight. The actor also has numerous film credits on his rsum, including Jungle Fever, and Clockers, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?

As previously mentioned, Badalucco is the latest high-profile performer to play a bit part on Y&R. Earlier this year, Eric Roberts appeared as ruthless attorney Vance Abrams. Film vet Sean Young continues to appear in the recurring role of Meggie. On September 1, former Brady kid, Susan Olsen, made a single episode cameo as a preschool teacher.

Badalucco first appears on October 13.
