Y&R star to be a dad

Amidst all the recent holiday cheer comes one more thing to be happy about: The Young and the Restless' Scott Elrod (ex-Joe Clark) will soon welcome a new baby.

Who knows if Santa Claus will visit The Young and the Restless' Scott Elrod (ex-Joe Clark), but a stork certainly did. The actor announced that he and his girlfriend, Vanessa, are expecting their first child.

"Sending love to everyone who has influenced me as it has added to who I have become as my #1 @vanessa_vazart and I have been blessed with a little peanut and now I get the greatest give of all which is to channel that love to him," he wrote. "Mom Dad x2 I love you and thank you! @vanessa_vazart U r are my mirror image I love you.#imgonnabeadad #catsouttathebag #textfrommomafteritoldhershesgonnabeagrandma #mymomrocks"

In addition to the exciting news, Elrod shared a screen grab of a conversation he had with his mother about becoming a father. "Life is amazing," he wrote. "I can't wait to teach him what I learned from you and dad. Love u guys very much. And thank you!!! I'm beyond excited for what the future brings."

Elrod joined Y&R in October of last year and just recently departed Genoa City. He's also known for his role as Men In Trees' Leonard "Cash" Morrissey. As previously reported, the actor will be making a guest appearance on an upcoming episode of Grey's Anatomy.
