The Young and the Restless entertained us with developments in storylines on both a personal and business level. There was also some action and intrigue thrown in there, too! There was a lot to unpack, so let’s get the most shocking moment out of the way first!
The Young and the Restless, Sienna and Noah? It’s a real trip!

We not only finally got to see the face of the show’s newest Noah Newman, but we also got to learn a little bit about what he’s been up to while living in Los Angeles. It turns out that maybe Mitch (AKA Matt Clark) could have a reason for running Noah’s car off the road that has nothing to do with his parents, Nick and Sharon.
We saw in a flashback Noah and Sienna kissing passionately. In a sneak peek for next week, Nick saw his son and the mystery lady locking lips! Devoted Y&R viewers didn’t see that coming, and fans of the show who also watch Days of our Lives may have wished that they hadn’t! After all, Lucas Adams (Noah) played Tamara Braun’s (Sienna) son on DAYS when he was Tripp and she was Ava.
This particular dynamic isn’t new to soaps. Jane Elliot and Wally Kurth played lovers Anjelica Deveraux and Justin Kiriakis on DAYS before becoming mother and son as Tracy and Ned on General Hospital.
Just a thought: if Y&R gets Stephen Nichols to revisit the show as Tucker McCall and puts him in a scene with Braun and Lucas, it’d be an acid trip, for sure! Nichols plays Steve on DAYS, and he was Adams’s TV dad on that show.
But we’re dying to know what it’s like for the actors to be playing a totally different dynamic now that they’re in these new roles. You guys have Instagram accounts, right? Spill!
Barroom brawl

It seemed like old times when Nick took a swing at Mitch (AKA Matt Clark), knocking him to the ground at The Shadow Room. Nick and Matt used to brawl at Crimson Lights back in the day. In their greatest battle, Matt emerged the victor, which only fueled the two men’s animosity towards one another.
Now, Mitch (AKA Matt) is all about deny, deny, deny. He’s acting as if Nick has mistaken him for someone else. Sienna is fairly relentless about getting to the bottom of things.
Claire is finding herself

Claire’s on a journey of self-discovery. She went to Los Angeles to get away from Kyle’s overbearing presence. He proposes marriage to the woman he loved, and he wanted to take her to Paris. He had the good sense not to want to buy her an expensive purse, but even so, Clarie needed a break. She opted to explore new relationships by making love to Holden, a man who knows, but not all that well, but now, we suppose she knows him much better.
Kyle needs advice on how to handle all this, and his parents, Jack and Diane, might not be the best advisors on this. They encouraged Kyle to come home from Los Angeles and then head right back there to fight for Claire. It became a moot point when Kyle bumped into Claire and Holden at Crimson Lights after they opted to return to Genoa City.
Claire agreed to come over and see Harrison, but she informed Kyle as gently as possible that who she spends time with now and in the future isn’t any of Kyle’s business. Our advice to Kyle is to move on. Or maybe move backwards? Maybe he could revisit his relationship with Summer or Tara? We can’t recall the last time that Harrison even asked about his birth mother. Maybe Tara coming back to Genoa City and asking about her son will give Kyle something to think about other than a woman who clearly doesn’t want him anymore.
Picture perfect

Y&R didn’t do the plastic surgery bit with Noah, even though his face was all bandaged up after his accident. When the wrap was taken off his face, we saw his smiling, slightly banged-up puss on our screens.
We have to say it was nice to see Nick and Sharon actually smile for once. The couple has had a great deal of angst over the last few years. Nick and Noah’s banter can be filed under “instant chemistry.” The two actors may have only recently started working together, but the playfulness between them has us thinking that they’ve been acting as father and son for years.
Calling it like it is

Nick gets major points for speaking out loud what the audience was thinking. How can any one couple be going through so much? Matt Clark popping up from the dead, really? Nick noted that first, Ian Ward, who was presumed dead, came back into their lives. Then Martin Laurent did. Heck, does Matt even know about the number of times Cameron Kirsten resurrected himself into Sharon’s psyche?
Too often, soap opera characters go through the same thing in life, time after time, and make zero mention of it. Nick is frustrated at Matt’s return on top of Ian’s and Martin’s tells the audience that he’s fully aware of it, too. That makes the danger all the more real in our eyes. Nick’s acknowledging that the resurrections are numerous, so the audience isn’t asking, "Is it just us?"
L.A. Story

We’ve been wondering for quite some time what happened between Holden and Audra when they were in Los Angeles. Through the use of black and white flashbacks, we learned that Audra pulled a con on a guy, Holden got wrapped up in it, and now, things are very messy. There’s a missing cashier’s check for half a million bucks at stake! Maybe this is how Audra’s able to afford all those glamorous outfits? Seriously, if she has that money, she could have funded Vibrante by herself! Audra’s very resourceful. She could have tried out for Shark Tank and tried to get the sharks to back her company. She’s very convincing.
Upon Holden’s return to Genoa City, he updated Audra that Claire knew about their past, prompting Audra to grow agitated. Holden needs to give up on Audra the way Kyle needs to give up on Claire. Audra doesn’t give him the time of day, and she’s annoyed when Holden tries to help her.
The Cane Mutiny

All the drama in Los Angeles got us to almost (note, almost) forget about Cane and the AI drama. Cane’s a billionaire, yet he doesn’t seem to be making smart moves. The fortune that he and his late father, Colin, amassed hasn’t seemed to have bought him an ounce of happiness.
He’s no closer to getting Lily, Charlie, and Mattie back in his life than he was before. Since coming to Genoa City, Cane has allied himself with Phyllis, of all people. And he’s surprised that his AI software has gone missing? Phyllis is too volatile to have as an ally, clearly.
Cane figured out that Victor must have it, so he went out to the ranch to make Victor a deal. Give Cane the AI program (so he can destroy it). Cane’s offering a pretty penny to tempt Victor into entering the arrangement. He’s going to give Victor $1 billion! That could buy Victor his very own train! It’s crazy to think that paying a few hundred bucks for anti-virus protection could have saved Cane a billion bucks! This makes Kyle’s offer to pay Victor $5 million look like chump change.
Let’s hope Victor takes Cane up on his offer and sells him the software, and that Cane destroys it. It’s bad enough that AI is creeping into our real lives. We don’t need to see it infecting the lives of our Y&R friends.
Money talks

Yeah, we’re talking about Nick a lot this week, but he was on a lot last week! We loved it when Nick told Sharon that he was going to call his father and talk to him about sending out some security guards to help out with the Matt situation. The Newman clan has millions of dollars for crying out loud!
After the Martin hostage ordeal that Phyllis and Sharon went through, which nearly cost both women their lives, and after Cane’s henchman roughing up Nick, which nearly cost him his life, we can’t understand why the Newmans don’t have bodyguards with them 24/7. They have more peril in their lives than Jonathan and Jennifer Hart ever did.
