The Young and the Restless tore Cricket and Danny apart about 30 years ago! Now, the attorney and the rock star are set to remarry on Friday, November 21, and the festivities will continue into Monday's episode on November 24. Soap Central talked to the bride and groom, played by Lauralee Bell and Michael Damian, to get the scoop on the big day!
The Young and the Restless, wedding bells
"We're so lucky to have fans who remember the first one so well," Bell tells Soap Central of Danny and Cricket's 1990 wedding, which is set to be rebroadcast next week on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27.
"It's so fun," she adds. "Having that fan base makes this whole thing even more fun because they've waited so long for this to happen!"
"We have the best fans," concurs Damian. "Ours are the best and the most loyal. We've met them on the road and at the grocery store. They are just incredible. They love the characters, they love the show, and they love the nostalgia."
The wedding's going to be even more special because two fan favorites, who attended the 1990 ceremony, Gina (Patty Weaver) and Nina (Tricia Cast), are coming back for this one, too, as previously reported. Bell previews that the two actresses are at the top of their game! "They're always good," Bell raves, "but it was great. We kept running over to them, saying, 'That was so good!'"
Lauralee Bell talks soaps
Viewers will have to tune in to see what Nina and Gina will be doing, but Bell reveals that "they had an important part [in the show] and they nailed it."
While conflict is the essence of drama, shouldn't each soap opera have one happy couple that's not going through a huge crisis? "We need happy couples on soaps," Bell offers. "We need fun, and we need music. We need to have more escapism and not people screaming at each other."

"People are interested in human emotions," Damian says. "They want deep, real human emotions. That's what they connect with. People want the escapism of watching a show. It's a beautiful thing when that happens."
