The Young and the Restless star Melody Thomas Scott welcomes a new addition to her family

On The Young and the Restless, Melody Thomas Scott's Nikki welcomed long-lost granddaughter Claire, played by Hayley Erin, into her family. She recently sat her down and gave her some family history. Now, Thomas Scott is sharing news of welcoming a real-life family member into her brood.

The Young and the Restless, soft as Cashmere

"This is our newest member of the family," Thomas Scott shared on Instagram, showing a photo of the new family cat. "She found her way into our backyard - so fragile, so weak, so hungry. She is now such a special part of our lives. We named her Cashmere because of her beauty. We love forever! Happy #NationalCatDay 🐱 ♥️. As it turns out, she is a Siamese Ragdoll. So sweet-natured!"

Thomas Scott's co-stars and pet lovers posted their enthusiasm over their pal's news. "So beautiful. Enjoy your new baby ❤️❤️ how lucky she is!" posted Tracey Bregman (Lauren). Added Beth Maitland (Traci): "Gorgeous blue eyes like her mama! ❤️."

Nikki Reed Newman

Thomas Scott joined Y&R in 1979. Within a few years, she was paired opposite Eric Braeden's Victor Newman, and the two became one of soapdom's most legendary romantic couples. At their first wedding, at other weddings, and even at one of their divorces (!), the couple's love theme "Through the Eyes of Love" was played.

Victor and Nikki have split more than once, but time after time, they find their way back to one another. They've had other marriages. Victor married Hope Adams (Signy Coleman), the mother of their son, Adam (Mark Grossman). Nikki wed Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) not once but twice. The first time Jack married Nikki, it was to use her as leverage against Victor, who'd gained control of Jabot.

Jack planned to exchange Nikki for Jabot, but it backfired when Jack fell in love with Nikki for real. The couple's marriage ended after Nikki lost Jack's son after she had an altercation with Victor.

Nikki wed Dr. Joshua Landers (Heath Kizzier) but was shot by Joshua's unbalanced ex-wife, Veronica (Candice Daly), who disguised herself as a woman named Sarah and had become Nikki's maid. Victor split from Diane (then, Alex Donnelley; now Susan Walters) so that he could marry a dying Nikki. A happy twist occurred when Nikki took a turn for the better, which led to a reconciliation.
