Allison Lanier was born on August 4th in the Atlanta, GA area, but she left home for New York to pursue a career in modeling and acting. Lanier trained at the famed William Esper Studio before her career began to take off.

Before landing the role of The Young and the Restless' Summer, Lanier's screen credits include It Happened in L.A., Red Oaks, Fish Bones, and Mia. In 2022, she began playing Summer Newman Abbott, becoming a popular and successful recast after Hunter King had left the character behind.

This past spring, Lanier chose to do the same as King, announcing her exit with a tweet:

"Hi guys!! This Friday, May 2nd, will be my last episode on Y&R! I've loved the journey and learned so much, but it's time to grow in a different direction... very grateful for all of the Y&R fans who have supported me <3," she wrote.

During Lanier's time playing Summer, the character "married" Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) in an elaborate ceremony, but they had already technically wed in Europe months earlier. She also divorced Kyle when she learned he was protecting his mother, Diane (Susan Walters), when she thought Diane killed her mother, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). Kyle quickly took up with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), which put the nail in the coffin of their marriage.

Summer's romance with Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) seemed to be going great, but alas, they were also not meant to be. When they split, Summer began to focus on Kyle again, but had to face the fact that he had fallen in love with her newfound cousin, Claire Newman (Hayley Erin).

Summer's jealousy came out in full force when she saw how close Claire had become to Summer's adopted son, Harrison. Summer didn't want her to be Harrison's new nanny, but lost that argument, which led to Kyle and Claire's romance.

After realizing she needed a bit of a break, Summer left town for business reasons in May, as Lanier departed the soap.

Soap Central wishes Alison Lanier a very happy birthday and many more to come.
