Matt Cohen, who played General Hospital's Griffin Munro from 2016-2019, is returning to the soap world as a brand-new character on The Young and the Restless, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Cohen, who also had a lead role on the hit primetime series Supernatural, will be coming to Genoa City as Detective Burrow, a new officer investigating a big new mystery on The Young and the Restless. Sadly, GC's last detective, Chance Chanellor (Conner Floyd), was recently shot and killed during the Aristotle Dumas/Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) storyline in Nice.

Few details about Detective Burrow are available at this time, but we do know that Cohen began taping last week and will first air on October 16. Cohen is the third GH alum to join Y&R over the last week. Roger Howarth (ex-Todd Manning/Franco Baldwin/Austin Gatlin-Holt) and Tamara Braun (ex-Carly Spencer/Kim Nero) are also joining the cast this fall.

After leaving GH, Cohen went on to become a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, for which he won a Daytime Emmy. He also made a very brief GH appearance in 2021, where it was revealed he was involved with Ellie, Damian Spinelli's former flame.

Cohen came onto the Port Charles scene as a priest in 2016 who was revealed to be the long-lost son of the late Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan), Anna's (Finola Hughes) former love. He grew close to Anna as he learned more about the life his father led. Eventually, we learned that Griffin doubled as a doctor. Griffin was also one of the contenders to be Charlotte Cassdine's (Scarlett Fernandez) dad before Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) won that contest.

Griffin had a hard time deciding between the cloth and love. He left the priesthood after falling for Ava Jerome (Maura West). Ava and Griffin were an odd pairing indeed, but things became complicated when Griffin fell for Ava's daughter, Kiki (Hayley Erin). After Ava learned Kiki and Griffin had slept together, all hell broke loose.

Sadly, after Ryan Chamberlain killed Kiki, Griffin was so heartbroken that he left town. Perhaps Y&R's Detective Burrow will meet up with Claire Newman, played by Hayley Erin.
