The Young and the Restless star Jason Thompson is celebrating his birthday

The Young and the Restless star Jason Thompson is hoping his character, Billy Abbott, finally gives birth to Abbott Communications. In the meantime, Thompson is celebrating the anniversary of his birth! He was born on November 20.

Born Jason Craig Thompson on November 20, the actor first came to the attention of soap opera fans when he was cast as Dr. Patrick Drake in 2005. Patrick, a caring surgeon, was a stark contrast to the mob element on GH. His romance with Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) became a fan favorite, and the couple earned the affectionate nickname "Scrubs" from their fans as both characters are doctors.

Thompson was tapped to appear in the GH spinoff Night Shift, which aired on SOAPnet. The actor took on the role of Dr. Steve Hardy, originally played by John Beradino, in a special anniversary episode of GH in 2015.

Later that year, he checked out of GH, and then he joined the cast of Y&R as tortured Billy Abbott. We saw Billy deal with the loss of his daughter, Delia (Sophie Pollono). While Delia died in 2013, a few years before Thompson took on the role of Delia's dad, the character continues to deal with this tremendous loss.

About Jason

Thompson, a native of Canada, was discovered by a modeling scout when he was just 16 years old when he was working at a restaurant in Edmonton, Alberta. He went on to model for print ads and commercials in campaigns for GAP, the clothing line.

Thompson's acting credits include roles in the films Wishmaster: The Prophecy Fulfilled and Divide. On TV, he's appeared on Felicity, Flipper, and Castle.

While Patrick thought Robin had died, he entered a brief relationship with Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud). After he realized that Britt did not care for Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer; now, Braedyn Bruner), Patrick broke things off with her. He next entered a romantic relationship with a nurse, Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo), but Britt showed up at the Nurses Ball claiming to be pregnant with Patrick's child. That child turned out to be Rocco (Finn Carr), the son of Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna).

Nominated for a Daytime Emmy five times for playing Patrick, Thompson finally took home the gold in 2020 in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for playing Y&R's Billy. He's since gone on to earn two more nods for playing Billy.
