Y&R names its new Noah Newman

It was only a matter of time before The Young and the Restless announced the name of the actor who would be taking over the role of Noah Newman. The cat was let out of the bag last month, when Kevin G. Schmidt revealed that Noah be would returning to the canvas -- but he wouldn't. Newcomer Luke Kleintank will debut as Noah in late September.

As previously reported by Soap Central, The Young and the Restless has opted to recast the role of Noah Newman. The top-rated CBS soap has now announced that it's found someone to play the part. The name of the young actor cast in the role, however, is not the one that had gotten the 'net buzzing last month.

Soap Opera Digest reports that Luke Kleintank has landed the role of the "aged" son of Sharon and Nicholas Newman. The role was vacated in July when the previous portrayer, Kevin G. Schmidt, revealed that he had "not [been] asked to return" to the role.

Almost immediately, online chatter had former General Hospital star Drew Garrett (ex-Michael Corinthos) pegged as the new Noah. A stray tweet was later revealed as inaccurate when one of Garrett's former co-stars revealed that she'd spoken to the Emmy-nominated performer and learned that he was not being considered for the Y&R role.

The role on The Young and the Restless will be Kleintank's first daytime role. The actor has, however, had previous soap experience. Kleintank appeared as Elliot in a handful of episodes of Gossip Girl. Kleintank has also made guest-starring appearances on other primetime drama series.

Kleintank makes his Y&R debut on September 21.
