Y&R's fall storylines are "messy, complicated"

The Young and the Restless executive producer Mal Young promises some very convoluted yet entertaining storylines will hit the screen this autumn.

If all those falling autumn leaves have your yard and streets looking like a disaster, you may rest easy knowing that The Young and the Restless will soon make those leaf-littered surfaces look like Mr. Clean on steroids. After all, executive producer and head writer Mal Young teases that the upcoming storylines the show has penned for fall are filled with "messy, complicated stuff."

The exec spoke with Soap Opera Digest to give viewers a sneak peek of the drama headed to the screen in the weeks ahead, starting with a small glimpse into the future of the Newman family.

"Victor feels betrayed by Nick, and the Newmans will be forced to pick sides as this feud spins out of control," he shares. "Victor has an ace up his sleeve for the audience and the residents of Genoa City."

Meanwhile, "Jack and Nikki will continue to test the waters of romance, but also don't want to compromise the close friendship they have. However, there is someone in their lives -- for once not Victor -- who strongly disapproves and will go to great lengths to sabotage their relationship."

Speaking of Jack, Young says the businessman won't think twice of using Phyllis to hurt Billy and damage Brash & Sassy, while "Victoria will take a much stronger approach in her pursuit of Billy."
