Sally Spectra wasn't around in Genoa City back in the mid-1990s when Phyllis Summer was first introduced to The Young and the Restless story canvas. However, Sally's instincts just may be spot-on about the fiery redhead. The Phyllis we're seeing now is starting to be more reminiscent of the dangerous and unpredictable woman who first made the scene as Mrs. Danny Romalotti.
Daniel's mother won't be ignored on The Young and the Restless

When we first met Phyllis, she was obsessed with Danny (Michael Damian). She went so far as to rent a car and mow down Danny's true love, Christine (Lauralee Bell), and her then-beau, Paul Williams (Doug Davidson), to make sure Chris and Danny would never get back together.
We didn't know how far Phyllis would go to get what she wants, and her portrayer, Stafford, is currently giving us vibes of yesteryear in the best possible way. Phyllis is unhappy that she and Daniel have been ousted from Abbott Communications. Compounding Phyllis's negative state of mind is the fact that Billy is back in business (and in bed) with Sally (Courtney Hope), Phyllis's rival.
Phyllis seems to have another adversary, guitar teacher/singer Tessa (Cait Fairbanks), who informed Phyllis that she would not be her ally in trying to influence Daniel's life. Phyllis believes that Daniel needs Abbott Communications. (He doesn't, but don't try to tell Phyllis that.)
When Billy and Sally celebrated their new partnership, Phyllis sashayed her way up to their table, but discovered her worst nightmare had come true: She and Daniel were permanently out, and now, Sally was taking her place.
It was clear to Sally that Phyllis wasn't just upset. She couldn't write off Phyllis' behavior as "Oh, that's just Phyllis being Phyllis," as Billy did. Sally is deeply concerned — and we think she should be.
Phyllis is going to get even

Perhaps, Sally should be more than just concerned. Phyllis's many crimes over the years have ranged from mischief to violence. In addition to running over Chris and Paul, she drugged Danny to make him think he was Daniel's dad, broke into Chris and Paul's honeymoon suite, and left an octopus in their bed!
The show's writers wisely left it nebulous, but Phyllis may have had a hand in the death of her former pal Sasha Green (Tina Arning), who was in a position to expose Phyllis's wicked ways as they'd worked in the lab that falsified Daniel's paternity tests.
We'd love to see The Young and the Restless take Phyllis to familiar and dangerous heights. Her confrontational nature made Phyllis a hit from day one. Could she cross a line from which she couldn't return? We think not. There's already an "out" if Phyllis goes "too far." A good psychiatrist could argue that Phyllis is going through a case of PTSD courtesy of her kidnapping by Martin (Christopher Cousins). Ironically, the one person Phyllis is getting along with these days is Sharon, her former nemesis and fellow kidnapping survivor.
Memo to Crimson Lights staff: Don't get Phyllis's order wrong

Stafford always amazes us with her performances as Phyllis. When she was finished confronting and hurling accusations at Billy and Sally, she went over to Crimson Lights, got a beverage, and sat down alone. She didn't seem to calm down but appeared more determined than ever.
Unfortunately, Phyllis lost one of her supporters recently. Summer (Allison Lanier) has gone off to Europe to handle a work crisis for Marchetti. Ironically, Summer's crisis was part of Phyllis' crisis as well, as Sally had quit working for Summer to replace Phyllis at Abbott Communications. It's a tight circle, but it has Phyllis spinning. Daniel loves his mom, but the man has issues of his own going on right now — and wants to deal with them on his own. These absences in Phyllis's life may already be affecting her state of mind. So, how far will Phyllis go to make herself feel better from all the hurt and betrayal she is feeling? Stay tuned to find out!
