A lot was going on during today’s episode of The Young and the Restless, but amidst the tragedy and loss emerged the Sharon and Nick reunion we didn’t think we were going to see.

Last week on The Young and the Restless, Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) life took a dramatic turn when he realized that someone was setting him up for the murder of Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers). He was sure that Cane wanted him framed, as a means to take Chancellor Industries from his mother, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).

By a stroke of luck, Nick found the murder weapon, a knife wrapped in a plastic bag, under the sink of his bedroom train car. Unfortunately, when he gave it to Chance (Conner Floyd), it meant that he was a prime suspect. Cane (Billy Flynn) claimed that he felt unsafe and wanted Nick put on house arrest, so he sent his assistant, Carter (Vincent Stalba), with a bodyguard to have Nick taken and locked up in an old storage room on the estate. But because Sharon (Sharon Case) was with Nick at the time, they took her, too.

While Sharon and Nick were being held against their will, Sharon had some disturbing flashbacks to being kidnapped with Phyllis just a few months ago. Nick managed to calm her anxiety, and they worked together to find a way out. But just as Sharon picked the lock and they opened the door, the bodyguard was waiting for them. He and Nick fought, and although Nick knocked the guy out, they couldn’t escape as Nick got a wound that caused him to lose a lot of blood. Sharon got Billy and Sally to help, but they feared for his life and knew he needed immediate attention.

After Billy, Sharon, and Sally got Nick back to the train, Nick was relieved to know that they were going to get out of there. The cell service had finally been turned back on, and Victor (Eric Braeden) called for a medivac helicopter for his son. While everyone else went to lead the medics ot Nick, he was alone with Sharon.

Although he was in a lot of pain, Nick told Sharon that they were always there for one another, and they always would be. And then he asked her to move closer. As she leaned in, Nick used all of his strength to rise up to kiss her. And kiss her he did…long enough that she tenderly put her hand on his cheek. That was more than a “thanks for having my back, friend” kiss — it was as romantic as it could have looked in that moment, given how much pain he was in.

The Newmans are heading back to Genoa City, and presuming Nick is quickly on the mend…what does that mean for his relationship with Sharon? He has been careful to keep her at arm's length and ensure that everyone who asks knows they are only friends and will stay that way. But are they? Things get complicated for Nick and Sharon this week, but it seems to us we’re watching a Shick reunion in action.
