What happened on The Young and the Restless

Lauren invited Nikki to go for an evening stroll on the grounds. Nikki said she didn't want to, but she invited Lauren in to spend time together. She listened as Nikki shared she’d had a nightmare about Nicholas and Victoria. They were calling to her, begging for help. Nikki said every time she tried to reach out to them, the darkness became greater, and they were swallowed whole.
Nikki said they came to Cane's party in good faith, only to encounter games and lies. Lauren noted that Cane is determined to show his power. Nikki said Cane doesn’t care about Damian being dead. She added she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. Lauren didn’t think Cane would harm Nick or Sharon. Nikk feared that she didn’t know what Cane was capable of doing.
Lauren wondered why Cane would even hurt Nick. Nikki said this isn’t about animosity, but it’s about what Cane wanted. Nikki thought that Cane wanted her and Victor to sell Chancellor so that Nick would be safe. Lauren cautioned Nikki that she should not sign Chancellor Industries over to Cane just yet. Lauren said they needed more information. Nikki asked if Lauren was trying to talk her out of doing what she needed to do. Lauren said she just wanted to find another way. She asked how Victor might feel if Nikki signed over Chancellor. Nikki believed that Victor would support her as she was trying to keep her children safe. Lauren advised that there may be no coming back from this.
Next, Lauren and Nikki ran into Amanda in the maze of shrubbery. Nikki demanded to speak to Cane. Amanda said that wouldn’t be possible. Nikki informed Amanda that she was ready to trade her company for her son’s freedom. Nikki said the only way she’d okay the deal selling Chancellor Industries to Cane would be if Amanda could assure her that Nick would not be charged with Damian’s death. Amanda said she had the power to make that happen. Lauren said she was playing into Cane’s hands. Amanda announced she had a signed affidavit proving Nick had an alibi. Lauren noted that Amanda having such a document on hand was pretty convenient. Lauren urged Nikki to think about this first.
Cane asked to speak to Carter privately. Victor said that he wouldn’t allow Cane to concoct a story with “that robotic freak of yours.” Cane stated he wanted to get to the bottom of everything. Victor said he was staring at the proof. He accused Carter of putting the murder weapon in Nick’s room. “Listen to me,” Victor persisted to Cane. “Your freaky friend told us that a bloody knife was put under the sink in my son’s room. How the hell would he know that?”
Cane tried to deflect, but Chance jumped in and sided with Victor. Cane said he detained Nick because he had made threats against him. Cane used the word "possible," which Victor pointed out. Now, it was only "possible" that Nick was the killer?
Carter asked to leave the train car. Cane dismissed him. Chance said he’d talk to Carter later. “You know he’s guilty, don’t you?” Victor remarked to Cane. Next, Cane reminded Chance that he was paying him. Victor was surprised to learn that. Chance noted he hadn’t taken a penny from him. He told Cane that they caught Carter in a lie. He knew where the murder weapon was, and Carter also lied about his alibi. Victor surmised that Carter is either covering for Cane or is the one who plunged the knife into Damian’s back.
Cane told Victor it was insane to think Carter killed Damian. Cane insisted that Carter was not capable of murder. “This freak is beholden to you, isn’t he?” Victor pointed out to Cane about his assistant. “You think he acted on his own?” Cane asked.
Meanwhile, Sharon wanted to leave the dirty room that she and Nick had been trapped in to get help for Nick. Billy, who was applying pressure to Nick's wounds, asked Sharon to take over while he went and got aid. “I’ve never lost a fight to a trunk before,” an injured Nick joked through the pain. Sharon pointed out that the security guard was still unconscious.
Nick hoped that Billy had a good idea, as his injury was severe. Sharon started to cry. She promised to get someone who could help Nick. He winced in pain. “Stay with me,” Sharon urged her former husband. Meanwhile, Billy went to his cabin to find Sally. He told her that no one else had been killed, but that he needed her help to take care of Nick.
Sally and Billy returned to the room where Nick and Sharon were with the guard, whom Nick had knocked out. Sally examined Nick's wound. “Can you help him or not?” Sharon asked. Sally said she needed something to sterilize the wound. Sharon picked up the bottle of champagne and asked if that would work. Billy got a different bottle of booze from the trunk. He gave Sally a cleaner rag. Sally used the two along with a teabag to clean Nick’s wound. He winced in pain. Then, she applied salt to Nick’s wound, which helped. Nick winced in pain. Billy used a rope to keep the makeshift bandage in pain. Nick said he felt woozy.
Nick asked Sally where she learned how to use tea bags and salt to fix wounds. Sally said it was from her carny days. Nick said that Cane will pay for this. Sharon agreed but said that Nick needed to get well first. Nick felt a little better and thanked Sally for her aid. Then, Nick screamed out in pain as he started to stand up. Sally, Billy, and Sharon helped Nick out of the room.
Meanwhile, Amanda came upon Carter in the courtyard. The assistant told the attorney that Victor, Cane, and Chance were talking about him. Carter said Cane was very kind and that Chance and Victor had a problem with Carter calling Cane by the name “Dumas” and not “Cane.” Amanda didn't think that was a huge issue. She wanted to know what they were talking about. Carter said he’d never say anything to make his boss look bad. Amanda asked Carter if Cane was capable of murder. Carter said no.
Just then, Lily appeared. Amanda asked her to stay. Lily quipped it’d be worse if Cane were there. Carter asked Lily why she felt that. Lily said that Cane killed Damian, and there was no other possibility. Then, Cane appeared and greeted Lily. “You disgust me,” Liy said before walking off.
Cane asked Amanda to leave. She did. Cane asked Carter about what he was withholding from him about the night Damian was killed. Carter asked Cane if he believed Victor and Chance about him planting the knife. Carter assured Cane/Dumas he wasn’t a killer. Cane said they had a problem because there were parts of Carter’s alibi that didn’t work out. Cane asked if Carter hid the knife to protect his boss. Carter suggested that Nick tried to kill Cane but murdered Damian by mistake.
Cane asked Carter about how Nick could have gotten into his bourbon or his video room to erase the footage. Cane said Carter had access to both, and he could have erased the missing tape. Cane suggested that Carter saw Damian as an obstacle between Cane and Lily from reconciling. He asked Carter if he had killed Damian for him.
Carter told Cane that he gave him a purpose in life, so he owed him everything. Cane said that he appreciated Carter and that he would protect him. Cane said it was important for Carter to know that Cane could trust him. He then asked Carter to trust him with the truth and that he needed him to tell him everything that happened the night Damian was killed. Meanwhile, Victor and Chance hid behind a shrub and eavesdropped.
