Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:

Daytime Emmy-winner Roger Howarth made his debut on Y&R two weeks ago, on October 31st. Ironically, he made his debut on Halloween because today was the day, in many respects, we saw his mask come off. Sharon (Sharon Case) accused Mitch of being Matt Clark, the man who raped her many years ago, and who later had plastic surgery. Matt was presumed dead decades ago, so his return came as a surprise. Matt denied to Sharon that he was the villain from her past that she accused him of being. In subsequent shows, we saw Matt play coy with his wife, Sienna (Tamara Braun), and deny, deny, deny. Matt's scenes with Det. Burrow (Matt Cohen) showed us that something was certainly up, but could we truly be convinced that Mitch was Matt, Sharon's convincing declarations notwithstanding? However, Howarth's performance in today's showed us just how dastardly "Mitch" (therefore, Matt) can be. He toyed with Noah, pretending he had no idea who this "Matt" person was. Then, Matt lowered the boom and let Noah know that he was fully aware that Noah was having an affair with his wife! Noah did his best to deflect, but it was clear that Matt was just giving Noah enough rope to hang himself. He's acting more and more like Matt Clark with each appearance. Howarth excels at playing menacing characters on daytime (he'll always be known to so many as One Life to Live's predatory Todd Manning). The stakes are officially raised now as we wonder what Matt is going to do next on The Young and the Restless.
