Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick -- and by that, I mean you're already halfway done -- recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today's episode. Let's get to it:

What happened on The Young and the Restless

Sharon (Sharon Case) might have changed her mind about racing to Mariah's (Camryn Grimes) side if she had known that her daughter had conjured up an illusion in the form of evil Ian Ward (Ray Wise)! The Young and the Restless dressed Ian as a priest, which was appropriate because Mariah ended up confessing a lot to her former abuser. Mariah is deathly afraid of embracing her dark side, given how she nearly killed a man (played by Michael Swan). Instead of Sharon assuring her daughter that she was a good person, Mariah was faced with evil Ian, or at least the spirit of him. Wise embraced Ian's wicked ways with sheer delight. Ian loves helping someone believe the worst about themselves. His bright blue eyes lit up like the 4th of July each time he felt that he was making Mariah feel more horrible. Of course, all of this is in Mariah's mind, so there is a part of her that sadly believes she doesn't deserve to be happy. This is likely the result of having spent formative years under Ian's control. Mariah hasn't fully confessed to anyone else what happened, but she did share it with "Father Ian." Ian's dark humor was on display when Mariah revealed to "Ian" that he controlled much of her daily life. "For a dead man, I certainly get around," Ian quipped. Of course, we know he's not really dead, despite Mariah believing that he is!
