What happened on The Young and the Restless

Nikki shot down Nick's suggestion that he drive her Ferrari before the Newmans moved on to more pressing business: Cane Ashby. Victor asked his wife if she was ready to sell Chancellor Industries to Cane while they were in France.
Nikki wanted to know where Victor heard that. He quipped, “Obviously, not from you.” Nikki confirmed she was going to do it to save Nicholas. She said she didn’t regret it. Nick appreciated the gesture. Nikki said Cane was prepared, as Amanda had the legal documents all ready to go.
Nick can’t believe his mother almost lost Chancellor Industries because of him. Victor didn’t understand why Nikki didn’t go to him first. Nikki said there was no time. Victor couldn’t figure out why Nikki agreed to such a deal. Nikki said she was going to trade Chancellor for Nick’s freedom. She insisted that Victor not be mad at her, given what was at stake.
Nick said that Cane having papers ready to buy Chancellor Industries was very revealing. Victor concurred that Cane gave away more than he realized. The mogul shared that he approached Lily about playing nice with Cane so she could find out what he’s up to.
Nikki doubted Lily would want to help the Newmans. Nick theorized that it could have been Cane’s plan all along to blame him for Damian’s murder. “That son of a bitch will stop at nothing,” Victor said. Nick wondered how they would fight him? Victor said they don’t! Victor told Nick to make friends with Cane. Nikki wasn’t sure that would work. Nick also doubted Cane would believe he was sincere. Victor said they’d make Cane forget about Chancellor and, in return, Cane would get Jabot with help from the Newmans.
Nikki doubted Cane would come up with another scenario like the one he did in France, where she almost traded Chancellor for Nick. Victor said he and Nikki would have a problem if she were to try to protect Jack Abbott from Cane.
Victor said Cane was delusional and the Newmans need to take advantage of that. Nick said he’d do whatever it took to protect his family. “You can count on me,” Nick told his father.
Cane welcomed Lily onto his train in Genoa City. Lily asked him if he shipped his train from France to Wisconsin. Cane explained he had a train on every continent. He finds trains to be quite romantic.
Cane informed Lily that flying makes him ill. Lily didn’t remember that from their time together. Cane said trains are more civilized. They have charm. Lily pointed out that it takes longer for someone to get where one is going by train. Cane said Lily was his first guest. He offered her some Earl Grey tea, her favorite. “No lemon, no cream,” Cane recalled. He asked her if she liked the tea. Lily said it was good.
Lily suggested that Cane live his life, and she would live hers. She recapped Cane lying about people being cut off while they were at his chateau, and how three people (Damian, Chance, and Carter) died. Cane said he was sorry he didn’t see the signs (with Carter) earlier.
Lily asked Cane not to look at her like there was something between them. She said they have a new dynamic now, and they have to find a way to co-exist. Lily asked if Cane was going to try to stop winning her back. Nick asked if that’s what she wanted.
Lily said she’s learned how to stand up for herself since she and Cane had been apart. Cane told her that her strength looked good on her. Lily passed on accepting one of Cane’s scones. She admitted that they weren’t enemies. Lily asked if Cane had heard from Mattie and Charlie. Cane shared with Lily his wish for them to talk to Mattie and Charlie together.
Cane said he wasn’t afraid to own what he had created, but he wanted Lily by his side when he talked to Mattie and Charlie. Cane said he’d been honest with Lily about everything. Lily disagreed that Cane had been truthful. “This was your deception, Cane,” Lily pointed out. She told him it was up to him to deal with Charlie and Mattie.
Lily said she hadn’t forgiven Cane, but she was still deciding whether or not she despised Cane. She conceded that Cane had been a good father. She said she may talk to the kids with Cane if he were to tell her what his plan is. Lily added that she wanted the whole truth.
Meanwhile, Lauren greeted Christine at Society. Christine recapped Chance’s funeral, which took place in Los Angeles. She said Nina was devastated, but the ceremony was beautiful, a full military service. Lauren hoped that Chance being buried in Los Angeles would give Nina some comfort. Lauren commented on how much Jill, her half-sister, loved her grandson. Christine said Dominic saluted his dad.
Christine said she couldn’t wrap her head around the whole Cane/Dumas thing, but she was glad folks were home and could move on. Lauren informed Christine that Cane was back in Genoa City with a vengeance. Christine theorized corporate warfare was going to explode now that Cane was back in town. She asked Lauren if Fenmore’s was safe. Lauren hoped so. The department store owner pointed out that Cane was still hung up on Lily.
On a happier note, Lauren was thrilled that Christine and Danny were engaged to be married. Christine shared that they were thinking of an October wedding. Christine was wondering if Lauren would help her find the perfect wedding dress. Lauren said she’d be game for that. Lauren thought Christine might opt for a Forrester Creations original since she and the Forresters are so close.
Lauren said Christine was no “bridezilla” but she’d like to work up three separate dresses for her. She’d rather do that than scramble if Christine was disappointed with one dress. Lauren asked about the vibe of the wedding. Christine said it would be unique. Lauren said she had the perfect designer. Lauren noted that Christine and Danny had waited so long to get back together.
Danny came upon Daniel in Chancellor Park. Danny complimented his son on his musical playing, noting that he had the talent. “The Romalotti gene is alive and well,” Danny told Daniel. Daniel asked about Chance’s funeral. Danny said it was difficult. He was happy that he and Cricket could be there for Nina. Danny added that it reminded him that they had to appreciate each day. Daniel said he felt that way after Heather died.
Danny and Daniel hugged after the father told his son that his proposal to Cricket was a success. Danny referred to Daniel as his best man. He said it’d be a low-key situation. Daniel said he’d be honored to stand up for his father. Danny then asked Daniel if he could play his song at his and Christine’s wedding reception.
Daniel explained that his guitar playing was therapeutic. He didn’t want to play his song at Danny and Christine's reception. Daniel explains that music grounds him in a way he did not expect. Daniel says he has hope because of Tessa. He confided in his father that he’s afraid he’s starting to develop real feelings for Tessa.
Daniel said that he can’t be with Tessa as she’s in love with Mariah. He said he wants Tessa and Mariah to be happy and together. Daniel pointed out that they have a daughter, and it’s important for them to be together. He added he has to find a way to let it go.
Later, Lauren covered her digital device as it contained wedding gown ideas because Danny and Daniel arrived as Society. Danny accurately guessed they were looking at wedding dress ideas. Daniel offered his best wishes to Christine and hugged her. He told her she was the best thing that ever happened to his dad. Danny shared that Daniel will be his best man. Christine asked Daniel for a favor. He wondered if she wanted him to sing at the wedding. Christine said the favor was to keep Phyllis away from the wedding since she would probably want to ruin it!
