The Young and the Restless episode for Wednesday, January 7, 2026, had Lily telling Cane she was leaving town, Nikki and Michael conspiring against Victor, and Jack reaching out to Cane to get proof of Victor's misdeeds.
What happened on The Young and the Restless
Diane asked Jack if Nikki had bailed on him. Jack tried to soften Nikki’s loyalty to Victor, but Diane was still peeved. Diane brought up the morality of what Victor was trying to do. Diane doesn’t think it did any good that Nikki disapproved of Victor. Jack pointed out that Nikki has influence over Victor, and she would do what she could. Diane remained skeptical.
Diane imitated Nikki and how she would tell Jack how she tried to get Victor to stop, but failed. Jack said Nikki wasn’t their only option. Diane pointed out that Phyllis could help. Jack wondered why Diane thought Phyllis was a better option. Diane said she didn’t have petty grievances against Nikki, but rather she simply didn’t like her. She doesn’t think that Nikki will jeopardize her stance as Mrs. Victor Newman.
Jack said he could never hate Diane; he loved her. Diane said she was frustrated that they were in this position. Jack said he liked his team better than Victor’s
Jack asked Diane if she’d heard back from Michael. Diane said not yet. Jack pointed out that just like Nikki that Michael is loyal to Victor. Diane said she’s disappointed that Michael hasn’t come through for her. Jack pointed out that Michael may still see Victor as the father he never had.
Diane pointed out that Michael could help keep Victor out of jail. Jack said they need to stop playing defense. He needed to take the bull by the horns.
Next, Kyle came home. Jack asked his son how the press conference went. Diane said she saw some of it on her phone. She thought he was great. Kyle said that Billy sent him a copy of a story that Newman wants to run. Billy and Sally want to run with a story saying Newman was behind the implosion at Arabesque, Cane’s company. Jack told Kyle to tell Adam and Sally to hold off on their story. He wants there to be proof, but Jack said he intends to get it.
Jack told Diane not to worry. He said to his wife and son that he had an idea. Jack believed they’d emerge more united than ever. After Jack left, Kyle said he was fascinated by watching his parents in action. “Watch out, Victor,” Diane stated.
A rose for Lily
Cane approached Lily at the Genoa City Athletic Club and presented her with a rose. Lily wondered why her assistant would reveal to Cane where she was. Cane quipped that he could be very convincing.
Cane asked Lily if the rose freaked her out; she said no, but she was confused. Lily shared that she was affected by Cane’s declarations of their past love. He said his feelings for Lily were real. Lily said she let her defenses down even though she knows he’s capable of saying or doing anything. Cane said their kiss proved their love is real.
Lily said her remarks to Cane about becoming Dumas had changed him. Cane reminded Lily that they had gotten along on New Year's Eve. She said that had been a momentary weakness. Cane took a seat, asking Lily if it meant nothing to her. She told him their being together was a fantasy. Cane invited her to have drinks. She said that wouldn’t change anything. Lily announced that she was leaving town to see Mattie. It could be for a few weeks or longer.
Lily says she’s leaving town because of Cane. He accused her of running away. Cane said they should spend more time together. Lily said she was sure of what she wanted. She told Cane that he wasn't getting it. If she were to laugh, then he might get the wrong idea about her. Cane offered to go with her so that she could say that he was sorry to Mattie in person. Lily told Cane to stop.
She told him he was being relentless, and that’s why she needed to get away. Lily said she wasn’t sending mixed signals, but rather the dying embers of their relationship. Lily warned Cane not to follow her.
The windmills of her mind
Finally, Lily told Cane they were talking in circles. She gathered her stuff and left, telling her ex that he could keep the rose. Next, Jack approached Cane as he was alone. Jack wondered if Cane was paying for his sins right now. Billy lamented he'd lost both Lily and his company. Jack advised Billy not to troll for sympathy. Jack asked for proof that Victor used the AI program against Arabesque. Jack said he’d be dammed if Victor were going to win this time. Cane asked why he would help Jack. The Abbott patriarch gave Cane some reasons, including money and revenge. Cane said that he might be able to get Jack what he needs.
Later, at Crimson Lights, Lily called Devon, asked to meet with him, and told him that she needed to leave town. Lily recalled her kiss with Cane.
Message from Michael
Adam had a one-way phone call, telling someone at Newman Media to hit the Abbotts hard with another story. Meanwhile, Michael appeared at the Newman ranch door outside. He recalled receiving a mythical coin, which represents loyalty, from Victor. The mogul said that he gave it to Michael because he stood by Victor’s side when Ian Ward had him at gunpoint. Michael hoped that Victor saw his loyalty on other days. Victor said he wanted complete loyalty moving forward.
Michael entered to see Victor. Adam said his father and everyone were at the hospital to see Nick. Adam said Nick had a broken leg. Adam recapped the Matt Clark drama to Michael, and about how the car that they were in had crashed.
Adam said the whole world is looking for Matt. Michael offered his services. Adam said the family was focused on Nick right now, even though that might sound funny coming from him, given Adam and Nick's tumultuous relationship. Adam said that he was trying to be the best person that he could be.
Michael said his message to Victor could wait. Adam wondered if Michael’s message was about Victor not using the AI program.
Adam was skeptical. Michael proclaimed the AI program was dangerous. Adam reminded Michael that they were both there when Victor ordered him to publish the articles. He hated doing it, but his ultimate allegiance is to Victor and his family. Adam wondered where Michael’s loyalty was. “Which side are you on?” Adam asked Michael.
Adam told Michael to skip the lawyer talk. Michael said he didn’t give a damn what Adam thought. He only cared what Victor thought. Adam surmised that if he saw through Michael, then Victor likely did too.
Michael produced the coin that Victor gave him. He said it represented loyalty. Adam conceded that while Victor has a soft spot for Michael, he did not. Adam threatened to crush Michael if he betrayed Victor. Michael reiterated he’d keep Victor’s best interests at heart.
The Nikki of Time
Nikki came home and greeted the two men. She said Matt hadn’t been caught yet. Adam said Matt would be caught and he’d be punished, as would anyone who hurt the family. Adam left to go to the hospital. Nikki wondered what the tension was about.
Nikki admitted Adam could be a horse's ass. Nikki wondered why Michael had come by. She thought it might be so that Michael could help Victor destroy Jack. Michael countered that he and Nikki were of like minds in that neither of them would want to see Jack hurt. Nikki recounted walking out on Victor and how he didn’t bat an eye. She said she thought she meant it. But she loved Victor too much
Michael said it’s exhausting getting Victor to see the right thing. Nikki said Diane was wrong to think that Jack approached her about stepping in between Victor and Jack. Michael reminded Nikki that she was as resourceful as Victor. Michael believed that Victor saw Nikki as his world. “That’s your power,” Michael suggested that they put their heads together and fix things.

Michael said that he can’t let Victor destroy John Abbott’s legacy. It would haunt him if he did that. Michael hinted about there being a way out. He said Vicor would never have to know how his plan was derailed. Michael and Nikki discussed using Cane to bring down Victor's attack on Jabot.
