On the July 8, 2025 episode of The Young and the Restless, Victoria made memorial arrangements for Cole and supported a grieving Claire; Tessa pushed back against Mariah; and Danny gave Daniel an update about his special night with Christine.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Victoria comforted Claire over Cole's death. "Your father was determined to make up for all the time he missed out on with you," Vicki told her daughter. She urged Claire to think of the time they had together as a gift.
Claire told her mother that when she was sick, Cole had stayed by her bed and sung to her. She recalled that not only was Cole's singing not very good, but he also didn't know the words. Claire noted Cole never had a chance to learn the lyrics as she was taken from the family shortly after birth.
"So much has happened since our family left for Nice," Vicki lamented. Claire told Vicki that she was sorry Nikki wasn't there. The two women embraced.
Victoria said that she needed to have Cole be cremated, per his wishes, and arrange for a memorial. Claire shared her fear that, because of the way Jordan raised her, she wouldn't properly mourn her father. Vicki told her that there was no way she could get that wrong and that you can't schedule grief.
Claire asked Victoria what her memorial service was like when they thought she had died. Vicki recalled she was still in the hospital and that Cole had made the arrangements. She recollected that Cole had been so strong. He read a poem about loss that gave Vicki comfort.
Claire said that Cole put a lock on the fence in Serbia because of Vicki and that it would always be there. Claire recalled a dream she had with a carousel that had only one horse on it. She climbed on, and Cole was there. Claire grew older with each turn of the carousel, and then Cole was gone. Claire asked Vicki if she could read the same poem that Cole read about her at her memorial. Vicki thought that'd be a fine idea.
Vicki and Claire met with a funeral director to go over the details of Cole's memorial. As the funeral director left, Nate showed up. He'd heard about Cole's passing. "We didn't expect this," Victoria told Nate. The former doctor said he wanted to help as their family and Kyle were out of town.
Victoria told Nate that at least she and Claire got to say goodbye. Claire clarified that that wasn't entirely true, as she left in Cole's final moments. Claire shared that she regretted running out of the room. Nate asked Claire if she was spiritual. Claire said no, and that the only scripture that her Aunt Jordan ever taught her was "an eye for an eye." Nate suggested that Claire could talk to Cole now and tell him everything that she wanted to say. He promised her that Cole would be listening.
Later, after Claire left, Vicki and Nate shared a private goodbye. Victor's daughter told Nate she was glad that they were still friends. Alone, Vicki picked up a photo of Cole. "Dear God, thank you for bringing that wonderful man back into my life again," Victoria began. "And thank you for letting him be a father to our beautiful daughter. And I pray that you will give Claire the strength to deal with this loss. She's been through so much. She deserves to find peace in her life. We both do."
Claire sat on a bench in Chancellor Park. "Hi, Dad, it's me," began Claire, and said that she had come to say goodbye to Cole. Claire added that her dad was very important to her. She apologized for not being there with him at the end. Claire said she'd miss him every second of every day. She added that part of her knew he would be watching. Claire invited Cole to visit her in her dreams. It didn't matter if he didn't know the words to the lullaby.
Tessa and Daniel shared another guitar lesson in the park. She suggested he hold the guitar like he might with a close friend. They high-fived after he played a few chords. Tessa sang a song, which included lyrics that read, "Just because you didn't mean to hurt me doesn't mean you didn't."
A nearby Mariah came upon them but tried to stay out of sight. Then, Daniel spied Mariah. She started to leave, but Tessa called out and asked her to stay. Mariah said the song sounded lovely. Daniel noted he only helped a little, but it was mostly Tessa. Daniel noted that Tessa was a great teacher and forgave all of his mistakes.
Before Daniel packed up his guitar and left, Tessa complimented him on his progress. Tessa let Mariah know that Aria got a boo-boo, but she took care of it. She added that Aria said that she needed two kisses to make her boo-boo feel better — one from each mommy. Tessa said that Aria has questions that she can't answer because Mariah will not open up about what's going on.
Tessa said she had no one to hold her while she was also going through a rough time. Mariah said it was best this way. A frustrated Tessa didn't agree. But she said that maybe this was the right call. Tessa suggested that they make the separation permanent. Mariah asked if she truly meant that. Tessa said she'd been fighting for them, but Mariah hadn't been. Mariah said it had to be that way. "For the last time, why?" Tessa asked. Mariah said she couldn't say. Tessa shrugged that she couldn't promise that she'd be there if she decided to come back.
Tessa took off despite Mariah calling out to her. Then, Mariah recalled smothering her mystery man with a pillow. He gasped for air, but he appeared to still be alive.
Danny and Christine shared a romantic breakfast at Society. She recalled their time on the road and how much fun they had, but she was glad to be back in Genoa City. Chris commented that Lucy had found a groove following Heather's death. However, she was concerned about Daniel. Chris noted that Daniel never had a chance to fully grieve Heather's death. Chris wasn't surprised that Daniel followed in his dad's footsteps by learning the guitar. She wondered if Daniel would feel better if he got a job. Danny said Phyllis had the same idea and that great minds — Phyllis's and Christine's — think alike. Chris took playful offense to that. She wondered why Phyllis went off to France when Daniel needed her.
Danny said that Phyllis was dealing with her trauma because of Martin and her kidnapping ordeal. He asked how Traci was doing. Christine said she was doing better. Danny pointed out that nobody had a bigger heart than Traci did. He said he'd call Traci, but then, he realized that he could go visit her as they were back in Genoa City.
Christine circled back on Phyllis and wondered how she could go off to sip champagne in France. Danny suggested they focus on themselves — not Phyllis. He suggested they get together later for dinner. Chris wondered what Danny was planning. Then, Daniel joined Chris and Danny. He shared that he had a friend who seemed distracted. Chris said letting someone know you care can go a long way. Daniel said he also wanted to fix the problem, but that it might be better to back away rather than interfere with good intentions.
Chris left Danny and Daniel alone, but she told the young man first that she'd always be there for her and Lucy. Danny said that Cricket was the love of his life, and he couldn't imagine living his life without her.
Daniel said he liked hearing how good things were going with Chris. Danny suggested they could put all this in a song. Daniel said he wasn't ready to play guitar with him. Danny told his son he'd be the first to know if Chris said yes to his proposal. Danny promised Daniel he would find his way. Daniel said he'd certainly like to find happiness again someday.
