What happened on The Young and the Restless

Danny and Christine's long-awaited wedding day finally arrived, and the events kicked off with Lauren and the bride discussing her nerves. Lauren thought that although nerves were possible, Christine's feelings most likely stemmed from finally making things official with Danny. Christine said she couldn't believe that the day would end with her being the new Christine Romalotti.
Christine's phone blew up, and Pietro texted that he was too sick to attend. She was in an ecstatic mood regardless, determined that nothing could ruin her day. She wasn't sure how things could get any better than they already were, but a knock at the door proved otherwise. Nina emerged in the entryway and said, "You didn't think I'd let you get married without me, did you?" She apologized for missing the bachelorette party, and Christine recognized that it wouldn't be easy with reminders of Chance everywhere around town.
Nina and Lauren wanted to honor Danny and Christine's storied history as a couple, and they put together something special. For something old, it was a liner note from one of Danny's old cassette tapes that mentioned Christine. For something new, they got her a Hulu dancer doll, which symbolized her first wedding to Danny. The something borrowed was a stunning bracelet of Lauren's that Michael gave her following a fight. The something blue was something to help Christine blot away the tears of joyful emotion.
Following the end of the tradition, a knock at the door brought flowers for Christine, which she assumed were from her groom. However, after getting the flowers, Christine had a sneezing fit, and Nina wondered whether, like Lucy, she had the flu. Christine quickly concluded that the flowers were the culprit behind her sudden symptoms. It wasn't long before everyone shouted Phyllis' name in unison, believing her ot be behind the nasty trick. Although it never came up before, somehow Phyllis knew how to send her longtime nemesis into a state of itchy disarray.
Christine was terrified that she wouldn't have enough time to pull herself together for the wedding. She wished for Phyllis to fall into a well, so she'd be out of her hair entirely. Nina gave her a pep talk while getting her shower ready. She shouted, "Hey, you are Christine Blair, almost Romalotti. You've conquered slumlords, vindicated the innocent, and prosecuted the guilty. You're a warrior. No, stupid mum isn't gonna beat you!"
Danny was saddened that Lucy was unable to attend the wedding due to illness. According to Daniel, Lucy tried to rally, so she could be there to support her grandfather, but the flu season was too powerful. Phyllis showed up and floated the idea that Lucy wasn't truly sick, but was just not wanting to be around the "bug-to-be." Danny expressed his wish for a day free of Phyllis's snarky comments, which prompted Michael to get involved. Michael said that Phyllis wouldn't serve as a distraction, and she'd be on her way. Phyllis didn't take kindly to that, furthering her narrative that Lucy didn't support the nuptials.
Daniel intervened, and he ushered Phyllis away from the wedding location. He refused to allow her to ruin his father's special day. She was disgusted by the grandiose display of decorations and fanfare for Danny and Christine's wedding, as if they hadn't been down this road before. Daniel rubbed it in, and not only was all of it necessary, but they were going to toast and celebrate the happy couple. He asked her to get as far away from the wedding as possible, and Phyllis slinked off to her room. Daniel made her promise that their interaction would be the last time he would lay eyes on her on the day of the wedding, which she begrudgingly confirmed.
Danny worried that Christine would be forced to contend with Phyllis and her drama, but Michael assured him that wouldn't be the case. After Michael eased Danny's anxiety, Danny's sister, Gina, emerged in town for the long-awaited wedding. She showed off old photos of Danny as a child, adding in a bit of playful humiliation. Daniel was thrilled to see his aunt and joked about being sick like Lucy, so he could get some of her famous lasagna as a healing remedy.
Tessa arrived at the ceremony site, and Gina was excited to finally meet her. Gina thought it was amazing that Daniel and Tessa were collaborating on a song together because of the connection required to make it work. Amy walked in alongside Nate, and Gina was even more ecstatic to see her. She introduced Nate to Gina, who complimented his looks, finding him just as attractive as his father. Diane, Esther, and Traci arrived not long after, with Devon and Abby emerging shortly after.
Daniel asked Tessa if it was too much for her, given the state of her own marriage. However, she felt like it would've been a missed opportunity to skip the wedding because of her own issues.
Phyllis returned downstairs, and Danny questioned what she was up to. Gina wondered what Phyllis could've been doing lurking around, but since she lived there, there was no stopping her. She accused Phyllis of being jealous of Christine in every way, and she was pleased that her brother was marrying Christine and not her. Danny encouraged Gina to take it down a notch, but Phyllis tried to drag Gina through the gutter alongside her.
Phyllis thought everyone at the wedding made everything about her, but Lauren came downstairs and pulled Phyllis aside. She accused Phyllis of being behind the flower attack, even though Phyllis feigned ignorance.
Cane arrived at the GCAC (which he owns) to offer Danny his congratulations. However, his presence was loathed by most of the attendees. With the opportunity and a room full of witnesses, Amy and Nina took the chance to confront Cane for the tragic deaths of Damien and Chance. Chance apologized for his role in their sons' deaths, but Amy didn't appreciate his money. Nina wanted this moment for months, and she didn't think there was enough time to say all of the things she wanted to see.
Despite Cane trying to take responsibility for his part in it, the grieving mothers tore into him because of his inflated ego. Amy declared that nothing would ever be the same, and Nina hoped that it had left him a changed man as well. Seeing that Cane was in crisis, Phyllis stepped in and insisted they leave together. After the dust settled, Abby comforted Amy and offered to help her with anything she needed. She was proud of her and Nina for telling Cane how they truly felt about his involvement in the death of their sons.
Gina, Nina, and Lauren reconvened with Christine upstairs, and another knock brought another bouquet. This time, not only were they free of mums, but they were from Paul, who wished them a lifetime of happiness. Lauren presented the bride with her dress, and it was time to get her ready for the biggest moment of her life.
Phyllis asked Cane how he felt about the verbal lashing from Amy and Nina. He evaded the question, and she wondered why he wouldn't answer her. Cane finally answered Phyllis' question, and he admitted their hostility was long overdue, and he thought it could've been more aggressive. Despite her attempts to get him to say something else, he stuck to the story that they had the right to feel the way they did. Phyllis discussed life as an outsider, but he asked why she had such disdain for Christine. She said she wasn't pining after Danny, but she still loved him. Danny wasn't the only reason she hated Christine, but his moving on with someone she despised made it worse.
Christine joined Daniel at the entrance to the ceremony, ready to marry his father and officially begin their new life as husband and wife. Esther made a side comment to Diane about the flower arrangement she sent Christine, which included mums, and Nina sighed, realizing Phyllis wasn't behind it after all. However, at the altar, the couple exchanged beautiful vows, with Michael declaring that he pronounced them "mad in love until the end of time."
