What happened on The Young and the Restless

Diane told Jack that she was glad Kyle took a ride share back to work. Diane pressed Jack as to why he thought making an ally with Victor could work. Jack said he knew it wasn’t ideal. He said he’d stay close enough to Victor so that he didn’t have a chance to backstab him.
Jack noted that allying himself with Victor would only be part of his plan to conquer Cane. Jack imitated Victor when he asked Diane if she was falling for Victor’s act. Diane said that Victor wasn’t one to sign off on anyone’s idea.
Diane asked Jack for more information. Jack said he wanted to trust that Diane trusted him to do the right thing. Diane worried about Jack. Jack noted this was like the frog and the scorpion story. The scorpion stung the frog because it’s within the scorpion's nature to do so. Victor is the scorpion, but Jack wants to take his sting away. Diane recommended dumping him in the water, too. Jack decided to leave for Victor’s right then and there.
Meanwhile, Victor told Nikki that he had given Cane an ultimatum. If he doesn’t do what Victor wants, the mustached mogul will destroy Cane! Nikki said that she wasn’t worried about Victor’s ability to put Cane in his place. She was concerned about the stress. Nikki massaged Victor’s shoulders. She asked Victor what he was worried about. He said he was surprised that Cane was more unpredictable than he thought he was.
Nikki offered that everything Cane did, he does for one person – Lily. Victor suggested that Jill played a role in all this. He pointed out that Cane is trying to keep everyone off balance. Victor suggested that Cane is dangerous but not evil. Nikki pointed out that Chance, Carter, and Damian, who all died, may not feel that way. Victor said Cane was underestimating him, which he should not do!
Victor said it might be difficult to be Cane down. He thought Jill could help. Victor took a call from his security team. They have an unexpected guest. He answered the door. It was Jack.
“What’s this all about?” Victor asked. Jack told Victor that it was time to lay down their swords.
Jack said he wasn’t there to relitigate his intervention with Nikki. Instead, Jack suggested they team up against Cane. Nikki agreed. Jack said Cane could wipe out Jabot, Newman, and Chancellor.
Jack said Cane was a formidable opponent. He built his empire more quickly than Jack or Victor built theirs. Victor noted to Jack that his empire was handed to him. Jack brought up Cane’s AI program, which could decimate their companies from the inside. Victor assured Jack that his company was safe from Cane. Jack said it was a mistake to trust Cane Ashby. “It’s a mistake to trust you, Jack Abbbott,” Victor said. “Why the hell would I do that?” Jack claimed to know how to beat Cane at his own game.
Nikki suggested there’s strength in numbers. Jack said they should use their heads and that if the three of them worked together, then Cane wouldn’t stand a chance. Victor asked Jack if he had a plan. Nikki and Victor exchanged a look when Jack said the key to stopping Cane would be Jill.
Meanwhile, Michael told Cane that the look he saw on Victor’s face wasn’t good. Cane advised Michael not to just drop in if he wanted to keep their arrangement a secret. Michael told Cane that Victor advised him not to work with Cane. In turn, Cane asked Michael whose back would he have – his or Victor’s? Cane pointed out that Michael and Victor had more than a business relationship. Michael said he was a professional, and generally, he doesn’t mix his personal feelings.
Michael said that talking sense into Billy is never easy. Cane noted that Billy is still a threat. Michael said that Billy asked Michael if Michael was Billy’s replacement. Michael asked Cane if he was. “We’re not getting any younger,” Michael said when Cane hedged about giving him more information.
Cane said that Phyllis doesn’t see him as a villain. He wanted to know how Michael saw him. Michael noted that villains are always more interesting. Cane said he could be whatever anyone wanted as long as he got what he wanted. Cane asked what he’d put on a scale of 1 to 10 regarding Phyllis being evil. Michael quipped that Phyllis might object to being placed at either end of the spectrum. Cane wanted to know why Michael wanted to work with him.
Michael said that since Cane wasn’t forthcoming with his plans, then Michael would tell him his. He wanted to dissuade Cane from taking action. If that didn’t work, he’d do everything he could to stop him. Michael said he could help Cane get what he wanted. Michael said that since he stopped Victor Newman on occasion, he felt he could do that with Cane, too.
Michael asked Cane who he wanted to punish and impress. He theorized Cane wanted to impress Lily. Michael assured Cane that he was looking out for his best interests. “Sure, maybe you could have another billion dollars? But cash is cold. Human beings need nurturing relationships to survive. If you hurt all those people, you will be so alone.”
Cane said he needed allies – not an ethics lesson, a coach, or a hug. Cane vowed to accomplish every goal. He called Michael a good man, but he wasn’t the man he thought he would be. Michael asked if he was being fired. Cane told him to walk away and not look back.
Michael wondered if Cane was really canning him over their first disagreement. Cane said it would be wrong for him to have Michael stay if he wasn’t in his corner. “Now, who’s playing mind games?” Michael countered. Cane said he respected him as a man.
“Out of respect for full disclosure, since I wasn’t able to get you to do the right thing from the inside, I’m going to do my damndest to stop you from the outside,” Michael told Cane. “I would expect nothing less,” Cane replied.
Meanwhile, Billy toasted to Sally when they (mostly) reconciled duo had a drink at the jazz club. A grateful Billy thanked Sally for this new chance. “Here’s to you,” Billy said as they clinked glasses. Billy said he could tell Sally all day long that he’s changed, but until he shows her that he has, then he can’t expect her to believe it. Billy apologizes for scaring Sally. How could I not see that beautiful face, Billy rhetorically asked.
Billy suggested they move on from the past and head towards the future. He wanted to talk to Jack about restoring funding to Abbott Communications. Sally said they needed to figure out who was going to be calling the shots – him or her?
Billy said Sally was his No. 1, so she can’t be her No. 2. He wanted her to take the lead because she’s been steady and resilient. She asked what Billy's role would be. Billy said he wanted to be Sally’s No. 2. “As long as we’re together, Sally -- that’s all that matters to me,” Billy said.
Billy offered Sally a penny for her thoughts. He added he only had room for one obsession at a time. Billy and Sally kissed. He said he wanted another drink so he could toast her all night. Sally asked Billy if he was teasing her when he said he was giving up his pursuit of Chancellor Industries.
She said his fevers are contagious. Billy assured Sally that this was different because she was going to walk away. He didn’t want that to happen. Billy swears it’s not a tease. Sally couldn’t be sure what was in Billy’s head for certain. He said this was in his heart. “Let’s dance,” Sally said. “You lead, I’ll follow,” Billy replied as Sally led him to the dance floor. Billy asked Sally when she was moving in. Sally said she wanted to take things slow as they continued to slow dance. Billy said it wasn’t okay that he hurt Sally. He was going to prove to her that this time was different. They kissed. Billy asked that they go somewhere else. “I’d like that very much,” Sally said.
Sally and Billy began making out in her hotel room. He said he wanted to make it a night she’d remember if this was going to be her last night in this room. Sally suggested hanging onto the place as a love nest. Billy said he wanted his place to be the place Sally called home. They kissed, undressed, and went to bed. Billy and Sally cuddled after lovemaking. He was glad they’re back on the same page.
