The Young and the Restless Spoilers, September 9: Mariah makes a confession

The Young and the Restless spoilers for Tuesday, September 9, have Mariah confessing, Nick warning Phyllis about Cane, and Kyle and Claire experiencing difficulty in finding common ground.

It feels like we've been waiting all summer to learn specific details on what horrible thing Mariah (Camryn Grimes) did while she was away on her business trip after she encountered a mystery man (played by Michael Swan, best known as Duncan on As the World Turns). On Tuesday's show, watch for Mariah to finally confess. Will this be a partial confession? Will she finally come fully clean on what happened that was so bad, she had to leave Tessa (Cait Fairbanks)?

Best ex-husband ever

Nick (Joshua Morrow) has been urged by both his sister, Victoria (Amelia Heinle), and their half-brother, Adam (Mark Grossman), to cozy up to Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) so that they can learn what Cane's (Billy Flynn) next move is going to be.

On Tuesday's show, watch for Nick to spend time with Phyllis as he's going to warn her about Cane. We can't see Nick being duplicitous in his actions. For starters, Phyllis probably won't believe him because she thinks that Cane is her ticket to becoming a power player like never before in Genoa City. Also, Nick truly cares for Phyllis. If he tells her that Cane isn't good for her, he truly believes it!

Adam and Vicki will likely have no problem with Phyllis being grateful to Nick. Their goal is to get information about Cane from her. If Phyllis feels safe with Nick, she might be more willing to give up her new employer.

Separate lives

Claire's (Hayley Erin) insecurities about why Kyle (Michael Mealor) proposed to her have gotten the better of her. Sure, Kyle may have been arguably motivated by his "lie of omission" regarding his kissing Audra (Zuleyka Silver) in France, but he truly loves Claire. She just can't accept it for some reason.

After walking out on Kyle, she went out drinking with Holden (Nathan Owens), a man she's growing to rely on more and more. On Tuesday's show, watch for the space between Kyle and Claire to grow. Whatever Victor told Claire about Kyle may be causing her to feel like she doesn't know the Abbott heir at all!
