On The Young and the Restless, Phyllis gave the AI software she stole from Cane to, of all people, Victor Newman. Why would she choose Victor to unleash the beast?
What Happened on The Young and the Restless

The devastating AI software previously held by Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) was stolen from him by someone he called a friend, Phyllis. ( Michelle Stafford) All of that can be made to make sense, except for the part where Phyllis gives this software to Victor (Eric Braeden). After all, Phyllis has been through with Victor, including the Jack Abbott impersonator, why help Victor at all?
Why did Phyllis give the program to Victor of all people?

Diving into some fan comments on this has been engaging. Direct from the Soap Central Message Boards, we start to unravel some answers, or at least possibilities.
Board User HeyMonday! Wrote –– “a little confused why Phyllis gave the program to Victor instead of using it herself, because Phyllis, especially since the whole debacle with the jack impersonator, she’s always been firm about hating Victor. I’m confused why she would give him the program.”
Valued Contributor zenmaster5 said –– “This is something that confuses me too!!! A man she detests, and she gives him software that can annihilate his enemies! On top of that, she wants Jabot for herself....she must know that will not sit well with Summer, who has a lot of love for the Abbotts! Phyllis even knew that Victor would go after Arabasque and told Cane that, so why would she give Victor the tool to destroy a man she claims to care about.... I thought Phyllis had a plan to possibly destroy Victor for all that he had done to her. Why would she even trust that he would not double-cross her....it doesn't look like she thought this through at all unless I am missing something!”
Regular User CloverLeaf commented –– “Phyllis gave the program to Victor because she thought he would destroy Jabot and then give her the company. Of course, she got nothing in writing, and she trusted Victor. He's never going to give her Jabot or anything else. This whole thing is so TOTALLY out of character for Phyllis and totally goes against what she would do if she were a REAL person. Phyllis would NEVER EVER trust Victor! It's just illogical nonsense spewed forth to write a story that makes no sense.
So now that Victor has the program, he's going after Arabesque to destroy Cane. What exactly he has against Cane, I have no idea. He's had it in for him since he found out Dumas was Cane. Of course, Victor "knew all along" it was Cane even before Nice. After all, as we all know, Victor knows everything. (Don't make me laugh! Victor is disgusting and a liar.) SMH RME This whole s/l makes no sense. Phyllis would never give Victor the program. It's totally illogical. Is Victor going after Cane? Why? Again, makes no sense. And Cane has become a joke. Victor has destroyed the supposed international business tycoon without even putting up a fight, and he's okay with it.
Still left scratching your head? We are, too, but there has to be a method to her madness, right? Not just …madness. Stay tuned, soap fans, as Jack prepares to ward off an AI attack by closing down Jabot, despite the many risks and advice he’s received from his wife on The Young and the Restless.
