Every day on The Young and the Restless, we see our favorite male characters take risks, pursue their dreams, fight for justice, and go to battle with business rivals. Some of them are grey characters who don't fit squarely into the role of hero or villain, but we love them for their flaws as well as their strengths.
Here are just three men on Y&R who have been through hell and back, whose storylines are dramatic, and who always steal every scene they are in.
Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless

As the son of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Hope Adams (Signy Coleman), Adam (Mark Grossman) didn't even know Victor was his father until Hope confessed it on her deathbed. For years, he had a love/hate relationship with Victor and the other Newmans. He was involved in all sorts of crimes and misdeeds, including kidnapping, gaslighting, and blackmailing. He has razor-sharp business prowess, just like his father. In his earlier years on Y&R, he would stop at practically nothing just to stick it to the other Newmans, who wanted nothing to do with him.
But the underlying reason behind Adam's horrific actions was always his desire for Victor's approval. The Adam of today has finally been redeemed and integrated into the Newman family, but he's still a grey character who isn't above doing something underhanded if it suits Newman Enterprises. When Victor told Adam, Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) about the dangerous and illegal AI program Cane (Billy Flynn) had, Adam was the only one of Victor's children who was anxious to snatch it away from Cane so NE could use it themselves.
Adam has grown significantly over the years. He's become a supportive brother to Victoria and a loyal son to Victor. His last-minute trip to France to warn the other Newmans that Cane was buying property in Genoa City showed determination and spunk, the marks of a true bad-ass.
Michael Baldwin

Michael (Christian LeBlanc) may be a nice guy now, but long-time fans remember that when he first arrived on The Young and the Restless in 1991, he was a villain who sexually harassed and attacked Christine (Lauralee Bell). He served time in prison and was redeemed to the point where The Great Victor Newman (who used to hate him) miraculously trusted him enough to hire him as his lawyer.
It can't be easy to work for Victor, especially when he puts you in dangerous and questionable (and sometimes illegal) situations, like he's done with Michael countless times over the years. Even though Michael quit working as Victor's lawyer, he made a bold and daring move when he accepted the fixer position Cane offered him. Then he made an even bolder move by using that job as an opportunity to act as Victor's spy.
Even though Cane fired him, Michael remains determined to prevent him from taking over the companies of all the GC residents whom Michael cares about. Michael is a crusader for justice, and he always looks out for his loved ones. We like to think of him as a bad-ass with class.
Victor Newman

We saved the biggest bad-ass of The Young and the Restless for last. Let's face it, Y&R wouldn't be Y&R without Victor Newman, who's been a leading character on the show for forty-five years. He built his cosmetics empire, Newman Enterprises, from the ground up. He has people he calls to "get things done" for him. He will do whatever is necessary to protect his family and keep them safe from psychopaths like Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) and Ian Ward (Ray Wise). And his feud with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) alone has been enough to keep us glued to our TV screens for decades.
Victor's interference in his children and grandchildren's love lives is maddening, and he plays dirty at times. He can be an arrogant bully, as he's spent years making Billy's (Jason Thompson) life a living hell. At times, he seems to have a God complex like we've never seen in any other soap character. He has butted heads with Victoria and Adam in business dealings more times than we can remember, and he has frustrated his entire family over the years over a variety of issues. But what can we say? He's Victor Newman, bold, fearless, tenacious, and always in control. And when the time eventually comes for him to leave this world behind, Genoa City will never be the same again.
