For the past month or so on The Young and the Restless, Claire (Hayley Erin) has distanced herself from Kyle (Michael Mealor), because she didn't know how to forgive him for kissing Audra (Zuleyka Silver) in France and then keeping it a secret. On Monday's episode, Claire finally called it quits with him.
But she wasn't entirely honest with him when she gave him her reasons for breaking up with him. As some fans have noted (and we agree), wasn't Kyle's dishonesty the main reason why she kept him at arm's length in the first place? So when she broke up with him, why wasn't she completely honest with him?
What happened Monday on The Young and the Restless

After weeks of watching Kyle beg Claire like a wimpering puppy to take him back, Claire finally put us out of our misery on Monday's episode of The Young and the Restless. She told him she needs to be on her own and experience life without having anyone to answer to, after the horrible and sheltered childhood she suffered through under her evil Aunt Jordan's (Colleen Zenk) care. She said she wanted to travel and see the world. Okay, that makes sense.
But why didn't she tell him her travel companion was going to be Holden (Nathan Owens)? Why didn't she tell him that Holden invited her to go to Los Angeles with him, as a friend, and she wanted to go with him? It seemed like she owed Kyle that much, since they were still officially a couple when Holden invited her — and since she claims to value honesty in a relationship.
Can we really trust Holden?

We still don't know whether we can trust Holden. He's only been on The Young and the Restless since January of this year, and didn't he lie to Kyle and Claire when he told them he wasn't working with Cane (Billy Flynn) during the time Cane had the secret identity of Aristotle Dumas? Holden made it sound like Cane only recently hired him. But we saw him meet Cane at Crimson Lights way back in early July, when Cane's guests were in France. That was when we first learned the two men were partners, and Cane asked Holden to become acquainted with the Genoa City residents who worked at big corporations.
Then there's the mystery surrounding Holden and Audra. What is their secret? What happened in Los Angeles, and how bad was it? Claire knows something happened, but how will she feel when she eventually finds out what the secret is?
She looked way too happy for someone who just broke up with her boyfriend

After Claire left Kyle brokenhearted, she went to the park alone and spent about thirty seconds reflecting on the break-up. Then, her mood shifted to anticipation and joy as she called Holden and asked him whether his L.A. invitation was still open. Fans noticed her smile and thought, what in the world? Does this look like a young woman who just broke up with her boyfriend, a man she supposedly loved?
We know Claire doesn't have much experience with relationships, so maybe she's just feeling things out as they come. But still, it felt like she was being sneaky, keeping Holden's invitation a secret from Kyle. It didn't seem right that Kyle wound up learning about Claire's trip from Diane (Susan Walters) the next day. Didn't Claire realize she should have told him about it herself, rather than him having to hear about it from a third party? And how does she really feel about Holden? Are her feelings for him just friendly, or something more?
It feels like she will circle back to Kyle on The Young and the Restless at some point in the future. It just would have been nice if she'd been honest with him about the trip, even though she knows he doesn't trust Holden and would probably balk and complain. But at least she would have left the relationship knowing she was up front with him about everything. By the end of Tuesday's episode, Kyle became suspicious about her and Holden anyway, so will he accuse her of lying by omission?
